Publisher's summary

We all expect to be able to buy an excellent cup of coffee from the many brilliant coffee shops available. But what about the coffee we make at home? Shouldn't that be just as good?

Coffee guru James Hoffmann runs Square Mile Coffee, as well as creating extremely informative, and popular, kit and coffee reviews for his YouTube and Instagram channels. In his latest book he demonstrates everything you need to know to make consistently excellent coffee at home, including: what kit is worth buying, and what isn't; how to grind coffee; the basics of brewing for all major equipment (cafetiere, aeropress, stovetop etc); understanding coffee drinks, from the cortado to latte; and the perfect espresso.

Basically a long YouTube video

By no means bad, I mean, I finished it, but I kind of expected more. I felt like 85% I’d already gotten from YouTube, and the last 15% was like, “huh, cool.”

I was hoping for a bit more depth

Great listen

The author is also a good presenter, which makes the book pleasant to listen to. The book also serves as a reference, more easily used in the physical or digital book format. However, the sections of interest can be marked for future reference.

I'm a novice when it comes to coffee!

Even though I’m 65 years old, I’m a complete novice when it comes to drinking coffee.
I started watching James’ YT videos about a year ago and found his passion for coffee compelling. And while I can’t say that I truly enjoy coffee yet, this book is helping me to better understand coffee’s nuances and how to brew it properly.
Thanks, James.

I wish James would do mire audible narration, so nice to listen to! Of course, the contents matter as well, and this book delivers exactly what I had hoped. 5 stars plus some. :)

James Hoffman is endlessly entertaining.

I am not a big coffee drinker. I do try to take some pride in my coffee brewing because when I make coffee for the large number of people who drink it I want to.do a good job - everybody makes coffee the way they like it, so drinking someone else's coffee can be daunting, so I try to do it especially well. much as I prefer reading over video though, I found I enjoy Mr. Hoffman's videos more than his reading of the book, and think that a video version of this, like a sort of infomercial, would be an even greater treat.
