About this listen

Three intrepid princesses find themselves targets in a deadly plot against the crown - until their uncle devises a brilliant plan to keep them safe....

Of all her sisters, Princess Stefanie is by far the least amenable to law and order, which is why she’s appalled to find herself masquerading as an unbearably drab clerk for the most honorable barrister in England. But her dull disguise turns out to have its privileges: namely, the opportunity to consort unchaperoned with her employer’s exceedingly handsome nephew, James Lambert, the Marquess of Hatherfield.

Hatherfield quickly realizes that his uncle’s spirited new clerk is, in fact, a lovely young woman of daring habits. The outwardly impeccable marquis isn’t about to reveal her deception. After all, he’s hiding a dangerous secret of his own. But when one too many escapades with the madcap princess bring Hatherfield’s troubled past to light, it is only Stefanie’s sharp wits that stand between the marquis and utter disaster, and only Hatherfield’s daring that can save the princess from the shadowy agents bent on finding her.

Great story..but the narrator wasn't very good.

Any additional comments?

I really don't care what the lower reviews say about this book I absolutely loved it. Loved Hatherfield and Stephanie. Loved all the "good" secondary characters. Hated the Duke and Duchess, really hated her, and Charlotte, what a vicious little bi*ch she was.
Loved the storyline and can't wait for the next one to be added to Audible cuz I just love to read along with it.

As to the narraton: She did alright with the females and the older men but she really stunk at the younger men. She hardly lowered her voice at all when it came to Hatherfield and when she did Turner's voice he squeaked, I was glad he wasn't in it too much. AND since Stefanie was supposed to be portraying a man she could have tried to make that voice different too. I hope they change the narrator on the third book but if they don't I'll listen anyway. I will admit that Ms. Wyldes has a nice voice but she needs to try harder with the men. Just sayin'

MarquisSteamy!

This book has many great similarities to the first book such as wonderfully written characters, interesting storyline and steamy romance. The story is written in a past/present timeline which took me a while to get accustomed to the rhythm. Once I adapted to this I appreciated the adventure, mystery, wit, and charm of the story.

{My only negative comment (if you could call it that) is that Princess Stephanie disguises herself as a man in this story which is exactly what Princess Emilie does in the first book. It's not necessarily a disappointment.......it just felt a bit 'old'. Other than that I enjoyed it.}

The narration was excellent. Each character was distinct and spot on. Bravo!

If you enjoy adventurous, cute, steamy romantic stories this series is a winner.

Excellent

What made the experience of listening to How to Master Your Marquis the most enjoyable?

The story was romantic, funny, exciting and well written with a wonderful narrator to compliment. I read it in a day and can't wait read the 3rd book in June.

Which character – as performed by Heather Wyldes – was your favorite?

I love the way she narrates all the characters. She has a very soft breezy voice. I've chosen several books because of her narration

I RARELY HIT THE 'PAUSE' BUTTON

Juliana Gray's style of writing is a prime example of just why I love HR so much as, right from the start, she wraps an enjoyable, action-packed, captivating storyline around a loveable H & H then injects 'edge of your seat' drama and intrigue, allows for character development and all this whilst your mind has taken you back in history to the cobbled streets, flowing gowns and gas lit rooms of late 1900 Victorian London. There you will witness a touching, tender and very emotional love story as it dramatically unfolds and revel in the plot as it skilfully moves back and forth during two timelines in the H/H romance and then cleverly brings the whole climactic story to it's present day ending.

Princess Stefanie is undercover as a male Clerk, she's beautiful, independent, headstrong and very attracted to James The Marquis of Hatherfield and who will eventually become her Knight in Shining Armour. He's noble, handsome, kind, strong and has seen straight through Stefanie's male disguise and he likes what he sees but James is haunted by a dark troubled past which, not only makes him bitter at times, but it will come back to reek havoc in their lives however, through Stefanie's unwavering love hope blossoms. There's instant attraction, sizzling chemistry, passion, sex, secrets, intrigue, mystery, murder, danger, humor and there are many hurdles awaiting the lovers before they can ever have their heartbreaking and heartachingly beautiful HEA which will keep you guessing at and hoping for right til the end.

Worth a credit? Apart from a short scene involving Princess Emilie and Hatherfield from Book 1, this could easily be a stand-alone listen and, IMHO, a very creditworthy addition to any HR lover's Library so I'm sure you won't be disappointed if you hit the Add To Cart button now.

Love, passion and suspense!

I absolutely adored this book. The storyline was engaging and the love developed was very believable. I always like passion mixed into my stories and this was did not disappoint. I did not see much nonsense rambling on by the author either which we unfortunately come across in so many historical romances. Overall a very enjoyable book worth a credit.

Princess meets her man

Another great story by Juliana Gray. Stefanie a princess hiding from assassins is disguised as a male
Barrister to Sir John. When she meets Sir John her new employer along with the gorgeous Marquis of Haterfield. He realizes right away she is a female. When he gets to know her he likes being around her. When she finally confesses who she is he will do anything to keep her safe.
When he is accused of murdering his step mother the defense must pull all stops to get a favorable outcome and Stefanie needs to fight for man. Another great read.

- I - AM - IN - LOVE!!!!

It's true, I am head over heels in love with this book, the characters and the story!!! I want more! LOVE IT! OMG!

The first book was good, but this one just BLOWS ME AWAY!

The narration is wonderful and the story, well it's almost 3 am, and I just somehow decided that to justify continuing to listen, I had to cook. Now, one steaming pot of fresh chicken noodle soup later (homemade including cooking the chicken) I am now trying to find something else to justify my late night - and my run-on sentences, but WOW! Good book!!!!

LOVE !!!!

the 1st book was much better. not worth the credit

i dont knw if it was the narrators performance or the heroine that annoyed me the most. the story just didnt flow. there was no build up to romance, it was straight to "i love you and need you" when in fact they just met a day or two ago.
