I found it extremely basic, general, and padded

This review is my personal opinion and feelings not a statement of fact. This audio book reminds me of school where you have to write a ten page paper but don't put much effort into it so you padded it with a bunch of unnecessary information and words. I found so much of this to be extremely basic and common sense. I don't think there is any good information that I couldn't have found for free doing a basic search online. I think I could have written this book myself and came to the same general conclusions. I also found it so boring, I had to stop it several times because it was putting me to sleep. I also feel like the book is poor quality and if it is any indication of the author's ability to write then I don't want to purchase any of their stories. I wish I could get my money back. My advice would be to look elsewhere for help on writing short stories.

Do not buy this!!!

Horrible book on writing short stories. The authors cover only the most basic and obvious advice (wanna improve your dialogue? Read it out loud! Wanna write a good ending? Tie your lose ends - wow, who would've thought?)

There is ONE chapter on making money... and it's about self publishing, growing an email list and being active on social media? Really? What sage advice!

The authors also keep name-dropping their book, and that's when you understand what this book here is about: driving the sales of their other projects, not really teaching you anything. Seriously, there are many better books out there (go read Stein on Writing). This one is not worth the money.
