About this listen

He was born the mixed-race son of a negligent, drug-dealing pimp father and a struggling single mother. He was raised in the slums of Dayton, Ohio, suffered incredible abuse and racism, and had multiple stints in the juvenile justice system. He barely graduated high school and has no college degree.

No one expected him to succeed. But succeed he did.

Starting out by scrubbing toilets, JT hustled and worked his way into better opportunities, eventually finding incredible success in the mortgage industry. He was on top of the world.

And then it all fell apart. He lost his job and his money.

But instead of stopping him, this setback became the springboard for him to reach even greater heights - eventually becoming president of a multimillion-dollar software company, and then CEO of a multimillion-dollar book publishing startup.

Gripping, heartbreaking, enlightening, and ultimately uplifting, I Got There proves that no obstacle is too difficult to conquer - and that the game can be won by anyone, from anywhere.

Glad I Listened!

Ever since meeting the author I’ve been influenced by him. I’m grateful that I was able to hear the words and I gotta get a physical copy to read it a few more times and draw up my plan to really succeed and exceed in the music industry. Thanks Unk! I’ll get there too!

Incredible & Humbling

Heart wrenching stories, grit, and no excuses. This book tells his story very well where you won’t want to miss a beat. It’s humbling, eye opening, and educational. Very good listen.

Great Book

This book….this…book. I thought it was going to be an autobiographical account of how a kid from a not-so-great background made it. I had watch some interviews with J.T. McCormick on YouTube. So, I thought this was going to be a fill-in the blanks listen. No. It was a lesson. It was a lesson to learn from everything and everyone. Good and bad situations give valuable advice. It’s a lesson on having a driven attitude, not just go along for the ride. I hope he is writing a book for our young people as a guide to success, no matter what. I definitely learned my lesson.

Well Written!

Awesome book! It made me want to tell my story in book form!!! I had the pleasure to meet Mr. McCormick in Atlanta. He never mentioned his book; however, he did touch on pieces of his past. Then I stumbled across his book!
