About this listen

Her sacrifice could save her people.

Luana’s colony is under threat of an impending attack. As the sole child of their grievously wounded leader, she seeks aid from the only other native species on the planet. Consenting to a marriage of convenience with one of the Zelconians, a peaceful bird-like race, would secure the protection her village desperately needs. As much as that prospect terrifies her, Luana cannot deny being intrigued by the hybrid she is to marry, with his strange eyes full of stars, his majestic wings, and his hypnotic voice.

Dakas is shocked when his soul clamors for Luana the moment she enters their Council chamber. Who would have thought the brewing war would have finally allowed him to find his soulmate? Her delicate and demure appearance cannot fool his empathic abilities. Dakas senses the fire and strength burning within Luana. He’s more than eager to take the human as his mate to serve both of their peoples’ best interests. But he wants more than to protect her village; he wants to conquer her heart.

Can Luana embrace their union despite the circumstances, or will the war destroy any chances they had of a future together?

Another great story by Regine

Just when I thought this story was going to be predictable and was feeling like it was too simple and dragging, it turns and makes a wonderful come back.

I still wish these stories were duet narration, but Daryl does a decent job and after the first hour I don't notice the odd mouth piece sound of the female characters. In general he is pretty good at keeping voices different for each character.

Overall, I think the Naga book is the best, but this was just as enjoyable albeit with less sexy times.

Lovestories

I could use a little less sex but the story is compelling enough to overlook the unneeded sex, her stories don’t need it. They are great.

I’m in love with

All of Regine’s books, the detail in them and I love the voice actor as well. Daryl seems to do it for me every time it’s him voicing either both or just the male voices. The stories development are never rushed and just the right amount of everything, off to read the next one immediately 😍.

Advanced society of bird people!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🤎🖤❤️💜
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌏
Character development: 😠😘🤓😉🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Luana - She is daughter of the leader of her colony. There are three sentient species on the planet, one of the other two, the Yuru’s, are fighters and are set on set on taking over her colony and either slaughtering or enslaving everyone. Her father is hurt and the colony’s only chance is with the Zelconian’s, the only other native sentient species. They can’t ask for help from the UPO because the planet is primitive and her people settled on the planet illegally.

The Hero: Dakas - He is from a bird-like race who also have psychic abilities. They had made an appeal to the UPO on behalf of the human settlement, but were told that the only way for the humans to be recognized by the Federation was for a Zelconian to marry a human. Dakas is more humanoid than the rest of his people, as he was the result of a human mating with a Zelconian.

The Story: Luana is immediately attracted to Dakas, when she sees him while meeting with the Zelconian council. Dakas knows as soon as he sees Luana that she is his mate. After his people turned her down, he brought up some good points with his council on why they should change their minds and possibly help out the Caston colony.

The UPO has a burgeoning trade agreement with a Zelconians for their crystals, but can’t get involved in the local war that is brewing. However, if a Zelconian marries a human through the Prime Mating Agency they can work around the issue and get assistance from the UPO.

This book was told in dual points of view via solo narration. The narration is done by Daryl Mayfield who does a great job. He has a deep sonorous voice and a pretty good female voice. He has done the narration for the other books in this series I have read. I have really enjoyed his narration and the stories have been surprisingly good. I like that they all have different and unique worlds and species.

I really like how all the differences between the species were explained so well, like how Dakas sleeps since he has wings, how his bed is different and how he showers in a much smaller human shower. The world building is so great, much of the technology and the way they live is thoroughly explained as well as the political climate of their worlds.

This series is a bit out there with the fact that humans are mating with different sentient species (not shifters, who have a human form but also shift into a different species), though the books are written so well that they are so fun to read.
