About this listen

Walter has a rubbish job, so has Margaret. But when they meet through a dating agency, neither is who they seem. Margaret's married for a start, and Walter's encounter with her husband, Billy, leaves him black and blue. Billy's a dodgy accountant for politician and racketeer Pink Harrison, who is about to come unstuck.

Superintendent James Mallow is determined to nail Pink. Meanwhile Redmond O'Boyle, professional terrorist and occasional birdwatcher, is languishing in a Colombian jail, and his only way out is to kill himself and trust in reincarnation.

PICK ME PLEASE PICK ME WE'LL HAVE LOTS OF FUN

Writing is great, narrator good, and character development meticulous.
Aside from all this within this novel you will find:
Love, Romance, Politics and Crime, Friendship, Deceit, Treachery and Intrigue must I not forget Crucial Decision Making, and Simple and direct Language.
I totally enjoyed this novel hated for it to end I had so much fun listening. I even learned something of Ireland. Do you have any idea what a Gravy Ring is? I do, got curious and looked it up online. You may find other things that pique your curiosity.

Worth a listen

I enjoyed listening to this book. The narration by Colin Bateman was delightful. Mastering the Irish brogue is not an easy accomplishment.

The storyline was a bit of a stretch but all in all it left me feeling good. I laughed out loud several times.

It's an enjoyable read and worth a listen.

A Great Listen

While it took me a little while to get in to the story, I found this one of the most enjoyable listens I have had.
My knowlege of Colin Bateman as an author was limited though I had seen movies and TV based on his novels. It was a good listen. Long yes,and like other reviewers, I too could have enjoyed more. I have now downloaded the other two of his books available on Audible.
I did laugh out loud at times. Having checked his website now, I am happy to find many new(for me) books from Colin Bateman.

Colin Bateman -you have a new Fan!

I simply loved this book. Bateman's quirky and dry wit are phenomenal. I think you need to suspend reality, go with the flow and you will laugh your head off til you pee your pants. Of all his books and I have now read several, this is the one I keep recommending to everyone I know. Also I think listening to it makes it tons more fun and Adam Moore does a great job. I just wish I had the imagination to think up stories like this one. WELL DONE!

About nothing and everything

This book reminds me a bit of Jerry Seinfelds TV sitcom about nothing. It turned out to be about everything. It hits on everything in the title and more. There are five or six life stories going on at the same time here. This is all done with a great bit of humor and I laughed many times. The writer seems to write from the female point of view very well and that amazed me, as little as I know about that. He then does the male point of view just as well. I struggled a little but ended up giving the book five stars. I really wanted to give it four and a half but alas that cannot be done so I rounded up. The book is clearly worth a credit and maybe two as long as it is. There is a lot of Murphy's law going on in the story, both for the men and women. The narration and Irish accent of the narrator is spot on and he helps with the humor as well. The only book that is in the same class as this is: A killing Frost. Another mystery with humor story. If you like this then get that one too or vise versa. I really think most people will enjoy this book. But if you are a humorless slug, then get Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Great Story!

What made the experience of listening to I Predict a Riot the most enjoyable?

It was great to listen to this story. It had me laugh out loud several times, the narrator is wonderful and the writing very fresh, wonderful charachters... I loved it, downloaded more Colin Bateman after this story.

What did you like best about this story?

It was really fun!

What does Adam Moore bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He really brings the charachters to life.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Hahaha, it is too long for that. I actually bought the book so I could finish it faster and then finished listening to the audiobook.

Any additional comments?

Great offering, He is one of the newer Irish writers I have been enjoying. Hope audible will continue offering the Irish writers!

Nothing and everything; modern and humourous

The reviewer who said this book is about nothing (and everything) was right. It follows the lives very different characters, and although sometimes predictable, particularly as the storylines converge, it's never boring. Excellent narrator, humourous writing, a great modern, funny book. Even though it's fiction, I think as a listener I got a little glimpse of life in today's Belfast, with the contrast of before and after peace.
