About this listen

It's Christmas in Half-Moon Hollow and newly turned vampire Iris Scanlon-Calix wants to make Gigi's first visit home from college as normal and special as possible. It's taken months for Iris to work up the nerve to spend time around her baby sister after her vampire transition, so she enlists help from Jane Jameson and Company to keep her blood-thirst under control and assure Gigi's safety. Gigi, on the other hand, has problems of her own, including the demise of her relationship with high school sweetheart, Ben, and a looming job interview with Ophelia Lambert, the scariest potential employer in the Hollow. And then there's the small matter of the handsome, frustrating vampire who keeps appearing in Gigi's peripheral vision, then disappearing before she can talk to him. Can the Scanlon sisters negotiate romantic problems, vampire politics, and Christmas cookie disasters and enjoy a relatively normal holiday?

Very good Half-Moon Hollow Holiday Story :D

4 stars

This was a very enjoyable story. It's not a full story but more of a holiday short that lets us Molly Harper fans see our favorite characters for Christmas and get some of Gigi's story.

This story is told from the PoV of Gigi, Iris' (from The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires) younger sister who has been away at college. Iris turned vampire while Gigi was away (a planned turning) but has been very nervous of attacking her and so Gigi hasn't been home in months, finally getting to come home for the Christmas holidays.

The story basically entails Gigi and Iris reconnecting and finding themselves again as sisters now that many things have changed. Meanwhile, Gigi is interviewing for a job with the Vampire Counsel (which none of her family is happy about) and she has to handle her declining relationship with her high school sweetheart, Ben. Not to mention she believes she's being followed by a vampire that can disappear in to thin air...either that or she's going nuts. It gives an interesting glimpse in to Gigi's head and also we get to see all our Half-Moon Hollow favorites for the holiday.

The story does leave off with some unanswered questions about things coming up in Gigi's life that gives a good indication that she'll probably get her own book soon. This was a humorous holiday story, everything we'd expect from Molly Harper. Amanda Ronconi did a great job on the narration as usual. I'd recommend it but it's probably best for people that have some familiarity with Molly Harper's book set in Half-Moom Hollow. :D

Wish It Had Been Longer

Surely Gigi will be the next character .I have enjoyed each and everyone of the Half-Moon Hollow books--others as well. Ms. Harper keep them coming. Please keep Amanda Ronconi as the narrator. She just makes the books so much more. This one has to be the beginning of her next book. I can't wait to see who the mysterious character is.

Enjoyed hearing about the other characters from her previous books.

Free Molly Harper? Yes please!

Half Moon Hollow rocks! What's not to like about Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi? And then to make it free? Sign me up! The story is good, a prequel to what I hope is her next book. If you're a fan, you'll like this one. If you haven't listened before this is a good intro. Very entertaining.

Oh this better be a beginning!

What made the experience of listening to I'm Dreaming of an Undead Christmas the most enjoyable?

This is a great story- coming from Gigi's perspective just as she is finishing college. But we are left HANGING! It's not finished! When is the rest of the story coming out? I gotta know who that new Vamp is, and now I've got to wait. Darn it. When it comes out, I think it will be worth the credit- I already like the first 3 hours.
Amanda Ronconi provides the vocals for this story as with the rest of the series and as always nails it. Thank you, you are appreciated.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Cal- he has taken on the role as the male protector/father figure for Gigi and is loving it.
Colin, just cause he is still so stiffly British and uncomfortable around others. :)

Any additional comments?

Trust Dick to get a giant hamster ball! LOL!

Series going downhill

To start with (or to end with, if you will), I did not realize the story was over once it reached the end. There was no resolution to her encounter with Mr. Mystery Vamp, and it just suddenly ended, launching into a long recitation of recipes. I didn’t realize it was over and thus endured the recipe reading until i realized that was it. Very unsatisfying. Overall, the story was mainly a revisit of all the characters gathering for Christmas, playing in a hamster ball, burning some food, and making gentle fun of each other. It wasn’t even a satisfying gathering of characters, because it barely touched on any of them. I love Dick Chaney, Jolene, and Andrea best and there was just a whisper of their characters. All in all, meh.

I want more!!!

Amanda Ronconi is a favorite reader of mine. Right up there with Lorelei King. I will try any book based on those to readers alone. They have great voice variations and seem to enjoy reading.

Molly Harper is a favorite author. She has a collection of characters that are fun and lovable.
This book is about Gigi. She is the youngest of the clam. Well as least that is human. We find out what she will be doing in life in the book. I want more!! This is a novella and leaves so much room for Harper to write more. I did find myself saying "thats it?" Just keep in mind that not all will answered in this novella.

Brilliant!

Loved this short story with Iris and Gigi! Laughed a lot at Iris and her crew's determination to make a perfect Christmas for Gigi!

More of a teaser than a separate story

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Do not use this as the starting point for the Molly Harper books. I think it's more for those who have already read her books and just want to revisit old friends. Not much of a story here, but it teases about a story that I assume will be next.

Cute

Cute but not my cup of tea. Narration performed well. Indestructible expensive tile turns into damaged linoleum. Not the transformation I was expecting.
