About this listen

Ashton Summers is on her way to becoming the most popular girl in school and nothing - or no one - is going to stand in her way. Especially not Luca Byron, her freak neighbor, with his tattoos, loud music, and distracting green eyes.

Luca Byron has three goals in life: get through high school with a low profile, make sure his garage band becomes something more than a hobby, and try to forget about his insufferable ex-best friend Ashton, who he can't get out of his mind. The last thing Ashton and Luca want to do is rekindle their friendship, but when Ashton takes a tumble down the social ladder, Luca - with his new makeover - is the only one who can help her rise up again by pretending to be her boyfriend.

At first being together is unbearable and annoying, but things start to change as Ashton and Luca discover the real reasons they drifted apart seven years ago. Now keeping their hands off each other seems impossible.

The story did go back and forth with a thought they will but then they don’t feel. It gets a bit repudiative in character behaviors at the end but still a good listen!

Drama

This wasn't what I expected at all. It's a great story with well developed characters, though I feel some is glossed over and not fully reconciled. Narration was done well.

I feel like I’ve read this story before. Sure, high school drama usually feels recycled and redundant but this story had an opportunity to add unique points that could’ve made this more rememberable. The popular guy Oliver turned into a psycho narcissist and there was zero hints to this side of him before the incident so it didn’t feel believable to me. Probably because most of the characters aren’t fully developed beside the main two. I wanted more backstory of the two main characters when Luka’s Dad was still alive and how things suddenly changed for them after his death. It would help make the story more believable and relatable as well.

Decent writing but the story fell flat

If you like books set in high school or deal with first love you should like this. Does deal with mild bullying but no open door sex scenes. G rated. You’ll hate Ashton most of the book but I’m glad I read it.

High school drama!

Good read

Ends on a sour note with OW drama that is built up, mega angst, betrayal with another girl and then quick 'i love you too much to let go despite what you did' and 'i should have let you explain' and from the female lead. Great story ruined. At the very least an epilogue would have wiped the nasty feeling of the betrayal and too quick resolution from our minds but there's nothing. :/

Just no...

Anyone who has seen the movie, “Drive Me Crazy,” with Melissa Joan Hart will quickly realize that this author obviously saw that movie, too! One of the lines in the book is almost an exact quote from the movie. There were a few small subplots that were a little different, but not enough that it wasn’t glaringly obvious that this author did not come up with this storyline on her own. Also, it ends very abruptly with little resolution and no karma for the antagonist. If you are considering this book, My suggestion is to skip it and watch the movie Drive Me Crazy instead, at least then you get to see some pretty cute guys and it is less than 2 hours of your life. I will give the narrators credit, though, they did a good job with a crappy book.

This book ripped off a teen movie...
