About this listen

Dani Kramer used to think growing up in foster homes was the most difficult thing she would ever have to do - until all her dreams came true. Married to the love of her life, Dr. Brock Holland, and running a foundation that specializes in finding jobs for kids out of foster care, Dani seems to have it all. What no one knows is that it could all go away tomorrow if anyone finds out about the precious secret she carries.

For military doctor Brock Holland, life has always been about duty to his career and country. But when he’s captured during a joint allied training mission, thoughts of Dani, his best friend, the woman he’s tried for years not to fall in love with, help him not only survive but reevaluate his priorities. However, when he returns home, he finds Dani is pregnant. In a cruel twist, duty calls again. He must marry Dani to save her from becoming a political pawn in a dangerous game she didn’t know she had signed up to play. But who will protect Dani’s and Brock’s hearts from each other? Or will they discover their marriage is more than only sharing a last name?

Such a heart wrenching story of love and loss. Shows that life is hard but if we don’t give up we can still have happiness.

Such a touching story! I couldn't help but root for Dani and Brock all while feeling all the sadness they were feeling. Beautiful story and well performed.

Oh boy! This book is heartbreaking and beautiful all at the same time. I love this story so much. I don't know how Peel constantly writes stories that lead me on a journey of such a wide range of emotions. Dani just tugs at your heartstrings from day one and I can't help but root for her and Brock while still aching for all they are experiencing. I love that Peel is not afraid to tackle tough subjects, like PTSD, in her characters. Despite the crazy journey, you can always expect a happy ending from Peel, and this book is no exception. It also gets me super pumped for the next one in the series!

Heartbreaking and beautiful!

A better plot. Then I was let down in the end. This story had everything going for it. Yet I was left with incomplete storyline for some. There was 9ne happy ending, but what happened to the other character development? Will this story continue in another book? I am so let with a rush ending and incomplete story.

A great start.....

I doubt I’ll believe a 4+ star rating again. This was 9 hours of eye rolling on my part. The lead character for me was not at all likable. The plot was weak and the story could have been told in a fourth of the time. Too many words and not enough story. I’m not at all one for soap operas so that may be the issue. Don’t waste your time on this one.

A true struggle.
