Publisher's summary

Every person has that one thing they’re known for, and it doesn’t matter what you do, that one thing—whether good or bad—follows you around like a bloodhound for the rest of your life. For me it’s a story I wrote when I was 15. Forever more I will be known as the Reece the Rogue Pirate girl, instead of Josie Peterson. Why couldn’t I be known for all the cute children’s stories I’ve written about my family’s pumpkin patch?

Tragically, the torrid story I wrote as a teen was based on a real person, Reece Cavanaugh. And guess what? He grew up to be a pirate—okay, lawyer. Same thing. To make matters worse, the man is representing my ex-fiancé, who wants to steal my treasure, a.k.a. my engagement ring. If that wasn’t the icing on the cake, Reece has an adorable daughter who happens to be my new student. That’s right, I must now have actual conversations with him after avoiding him for half my life, even by hiding behind banana displays when needed.

But the more I get to know Reece—the real version, not the imaginary one who ravishes me on sandy beaches—I can’t help but wish we could roll around in the sand together. There’s a problem, though: The school I work for frowns upon relationships between parents and teachers. And it’s pumpkin season, which means all my free time is spent on the family farm. But when he kisses me, I can’t help wanting to break all the rules and get tangled up in the barn. The burning question is, am I brave enough to make my story a reality, or will it be another bad ending?

From USA Today best-selling author Jennifer Peel comes a curl-your-toes-and-cuddle-up-with-your-favorite-blanket-and-cocoa romantic comedy.

A pleasant book for gardening and/or a long drive

This author was new for me and I'm glad to have given this book a try! It's always a pleasure to find books without profanity and sex scenes, which are mostly fillers and not talent that lengthen a novel. However, there were a few too many "shizzle" entries. ;) The story was one with redeeming qualities, displaying the perseverance of a woman overcoming past challenges and growing up to engage in adulthood, with contentment, in love. The same is true for the male character. The narrator, Kay, could have made him much less of a heavy-breather while talking and would be spot on. :D Enjoy!

Perfect fall romance

OH. MY. HEAVENS. All the stars and heart eyes for this book. From the dual meaning of 'pumpkin' and 'patch' this book has so many sweet and swoony parts! I kept getting texts from one of my book besties "this is SO good!" "you have to read this when it releases!". Listening to the audiobook was even better than reading the book. The narrator did a fantastic job with Josie and Reece's story, and I WAS NOT disappointed.

Since they weren't allowed to openly date Josie and Reece were just going to just be friends, but I knew that couldn't last forever. Besides the chemistry between them being off the charts, Reece doesn't hide the fact that he's totally into Josie! This guy isn't playing games and it's completely swoony and sigh worthy. I have two words for you 'tractor kisses' (IYKYK). Holy Moly!!

I loved Josi and Reece together. He's so good for her and just what she needed. The man in your life should support you through your difficult times and help you be the best you can be, and that's what Reece did with Josie. When lawyer Reece made an appearance and stood up to the principal of the school that was super hot and swoony!!

Want to know what else women find attractive and sexy? An involved dad who volunteers to be a room parent! Andi's a lucky little girl to have a dad who cares so much about her. Speaking of Andi, she's the cutest and I couldn't help but fall in love with her too. All the scenes at the pumpkin patch with the kids were adorable.

Start your fall off with this amazing and swoony romance--you won't be regret it. Content: super swoony kisses (nothing more) and a few biblical swears (no profanity)

Stefanie Kay is an awesome narrator and has quickly become one of my favorite rom-com narrators. I especially love how she did the voice for Josie's inner voice.

Holy pumpkin spice!

This author is an auto buy for me and this is no exception. I have the book, but this audio is fantastic! The narrator will have you falling in love with Reece from the very first time he speaks. The swooniest of stories with all the heart eyes.

Cute story.

I enjoyed the storyline and idea. Where it fell flat for me is in the constant mention of the "Pirate girl" and the Rogue Pirate story. It was near obsession of the MC which made me dislike her a bit. A bit over the top sappy. Yes, it's a romance - but a little too sugary sweet and the love interest was overly doting and tossed out compliments to where the sexual tension became something to only hope for.

Sweet romance to enjoy the fall season

I loved this book. It stayed sweet- with some spicy touches. Great kissing scenes without making me uncomfortable. I love the change topics it addresses as well, bullying and self esteem issues. It was so charming and I loved it. But I always love her books.

Josie is one of my favorite characters

I love this story and the audiobook version was a great listen. I loved the narration Reece was all dreamy and persistent without being annoying. Josie was a sweetheart with things in her life she was trying to work through. Her family was a hoot but also a bit crazy on their own they made laugh out loud and then want to yell at them the next minute. Definitely Recommended.

Unputdownable!!! All the Pumpkins and the Stars!!!

I'm in love!!! This book is darling! I couldn't get enough of Josie and Reece! I laughed out loud so many times! I'm sure my family kept looking at me like I was crazy. But, honestly, I couldn't help it! It was hysterical. I've read and listened to this book and loved both ways! Stefanie Kay is a favorite narrator of mine and she has brought this story to life. I loved how she portrayed Josie and Reece. Read it or listen, either way is awesome!!!!!!!

The whole cast of characters were wonderful. Josie's family were a little crazy at times. Mostly just "the sisters." Who are the sisters? Josie's mom and aunt. Poor Josie. She wrote her dreams into a story about Reece the rogue pirate and her brother kind of shared it with everyone. *jaw drops open* I would have been beyond mortified y'all!!! I had my fair share of embarrassing moments in high school, but Josie's torrid story being circulated around not only the school, but the whole community, definitely takes the cake! Poor girl! She does some evasive maneuvering to avoid Reece. Oh heavens, super funny! Definitely one of those laugh out loud moments I was telling you about!

I got sidetracked...back to the characters. Josie's cousin Jenna is her best friend and has had her back for years! I loved their relationship. Then we have the best brother ever...yep the one who leaked the story, or rather handed it out like candy, Oliver. I'll let you read the story and have some laughs and develop your own thoughts and feelings towards him. Kitty, wife to said story spreader (love her spunk). Friends at the school Josie teaches at-there are so many great moments around the school, the secretary and the principal especially. Hahaha! Then we have the ever roguish Pirate, Reece, and his entourage. There are several more wonderful characters, some we've seen in previous books. Oh I loved all the dynamics created by these different characters.

The whole pumpkin patch stuff was just adorable! I loved Josie's roll in her family's farm. She had me hoping that Josie would follow through with one of her dreams. I'll let you read to discover for yourself. Let me just say she's darling! Between that and her being a teacher and interacting with the little kids, my heart endeared to her even more! I just love her goodness. So much! And her goodness has me hurting for the pain and ache that she experiences. I loved how the author addressed Josie needing to heal and discover who she is, not who she hides as due to the pain of the backlash from her brother's story spreading. Josie is strong and wonderful and smart and I loved watching her heal. Bullying is real. It has immense consequences. And can last for a long time. Please be kind. Don't allow bullying to happen. Don't shame people. Nobody needs to be treated that way!

The chemistry between these two is off the charts! *Happy sigh* I couldn't help but know that something very humorous was going to happen every time that Josie sees Reece, or he shows up without her knowing. Hahahaha!!!! Y'all, I'm giggling just thinking about these awesome moments.

I just want to gobble this one up again! It's yummy, charming, full of heart, swoony, giggle inducing, sigh worthy and oh so unputdownable! You won't want to set it down once you start. I promise! I only did because I was sick and my body begged for sleep. If I wasn't trying to get better, you better believe that I would have stayed awake for hours upon hours to devour it all right away!!!

All the hearts and stars for this one! Jennifer Peel has done it again! She's pulled me in and wrapped my heart up with these two pirates! And I'm really hoping that she might just give us Reece the rogue Pirate's story as a bonus. *If I say pretty please with a cherry on top does that help?*

Content: The main characters kiss and make out several times throughout the book. There is nothing more than some steamy kisses. There are some innuendos throughout the book mostly in reference to Josie's story but we don't see anything in detail. It isn't squeaky clean, but I would consider it a PG-13 clean. No sex. A couple swear words. No fighting.

Happy Reading!!!
