Publisher's summary

What does dating the boss + meddling ex-wife + most adorable three-year-old ever equal? Trouble in Loveland.

At 17, Charlee Jensen packed her bags and left her beloved hometown of Loveland, swearing she would never have anything to do with the men that left her heartbroken: her father, the man who taught her heroes can fall; and Ryan Carter, her much older neighbor and teenage crush.

Now eight years later, Charlee has two degrees she never wanted and no job prospects, forcing her to swallow her pride and come home to work for her father's accounting firm - the same firm where newly divorced Ryan Carter is now a partner.

But trouble starts to stir when Ryan realizes the girl next door is all grown up and completely smitten with his adorable three-year-old. Ryan finds it hard to resist his beautiful, yet annoyingly charming neighbor and coworker, but is torn between his feelings and trying to keep the peace with his ex-wife, the mother of his child. It's a recipe for trouble. Will Charlee and Ryan find the formula for success?

Love for Loveland!

I don’t always like the way women readers do the male voices but I felt this narrator did a good job. I love this book for several reasons but I always love a story that makes me feel! I felt frustrated, ticked, happy and of course giddy!
I also love to laugh and this author always delivers that too! I have read this book so knew what would happen and yet it didn’t take away from the audible experience! Can’t wait for more of her books to come out in audible!

So much fun!

We thoroughly enjoyed the performance of this novel. Who would have thought butterflies could be so interesting. Great story. Loved it was clean. Witty is just and added bonus.

Doormat

I didn’t hate this book but the main character was really frustrating. She seemed so intelligent and mature in some ways but in others, was such a pushover. I kept wanting her to really end it with the guy because he kept doing the same things to her over and over AND OVER! That said, the performance was actually pretty good and the HEA was there, (even though I personally feel like she should have chosen better!)

GTFOH

I like this book but good grief it is tearfully painful. Why tf did she do this to herself over and over and over and over and over????!!!!. I still have an hour left to listen and I’m sure there will be the “happy ending” but I’m not interested in them being together. This girl needed to move tf on and he needed a therapist and a clue.
So far there hasn’t been anything romantic between them besides kissing; which he is never comfortable even just that. At this point, I don’t think I could stomach anything more descriptive between them.

Update:
Finished and happy to report there is zero spice in this book. It would’ve been way too awkward with how uncomfortable the Mmc was about their age difference. I am super sensitive to age gaps personally, but she wasn’t 15 and he 32. I felt the Mfc was strong enough to handle herself appropriately. However, the “used to be the little girl next door” aspect made it feel pedophilish.

The book was so full of sadness mostly for the female character. I mean, it started out awful with the dad’s confession as the opening, not a moments peace from the get go. I enjoyed the mfc’s wit, that gave the book some lightheartedness. And, somehow she came across strong but at the same time weak🤷‍♀️. Mmc was a spineless moron from start to finish for me.
Like I said, it’s a good book but be ready for angst start to finish.

Vulnerable and wonderful

I feel like this book showed some of the realities of dating a man who is divorced and has a child. Really appreciate it seeing that vulnerability in the many challenges her relationship like that can face. it was still romantic and everything a romcom should be. This was different in its vulnerability, and perhaps a somewhat realistic portrayal of the ups and downs of a relationship in that situation. I’ve never experienced a relationship like that, and appreciated the glimpse.

GND romance with a twist

I enjoyed this girl next door romance. It took me on a whole rollercoaster of emotions but finally gets to where I wanted it to go. I love how Ms. Peel puts so much reality in her stories they are always a good read. I had to immediately read the sequel to this one.

The narrator did and excellent job. Her performance was captivating and kept the story entertaining.

Well…

So, the story is decent. VERY clean. But if you know that ahead of time you can enjoy the rest for what it is.

I did cry a couple of times - there are all the feels in this one. I do agree with another reviewer that the FMC allows way more than she should of people (including the MMC) treating her poorly. The book could have been shorter (imo needed to be shorter) with less bad treatment of the FMC - it’s downright depressing.

I did enjoy the story overall and I actually liked the narrator (not whiny except for the FMC’s bestie, but that’s just her character).
