About this listen

Simon Fitzgerald's nephew James Tremont is in a predicament. He's inherited a run-down estate, a house full of eccentric relatives who are depending on him for support, and a bank account that has plunged into the red. The answer to his financial woes arrives in the oh-so-common person of Archie Campbell, a wealthy man who wants to give James a helping hand. But Archie's money comes with a stipulation. James must marry Archie's daughter Amanda, and he must do so without letting the young lady know she is entering into an arranged marriage. Thus James is pulled into a web of deceit, a lie that will come back to haunt him and endanger the very thing that means more to him than life itself.

The Narrator mispronounces words constantly and each time she says "chapter" I want to cringe! I don't normally comment on books publicly but I was hard pressed to finish this last book because of the narrator.

Narrator inadiquate

This book COULD have been great but, yet again, narration has let it down. It sounded like it was recorded in an empty room by a narrator who mispronounced so many words that she should be stopped from EVER EVER doing another book. (I notice she narrated Book 3 which had similar comments).

So please, please, please authors/publishers/Audible take note that the choice of a narrator for your book is so IMPORTANT to us listeners as they can either make or break a book so just spend a few measly minutes actually listening to the book yourselves and you will soon see what we have been subjected to by your obvious lack of attention to detail. What is the point of spending months and months writing a good book only to have it slaughtered in this way.

However, (I'm calmer now I've got that out of my system) the story was a good stand alone listen with some funny interesting characters who get involved in a fated marriage when the bride is told the groom only married her for her dowry (ooops) which stops the wedding night festivities because she thought they were marrying for love (ahhhh).

Worth a credit? Well it could have been, and may even have earned a worthy 5 stars (oh no here I go again - sorry) if it was narrated by any of the usual historical romance crew but Ms Bartlett's fault filled rendition has made it an unbearable listen - so that would be an unfortunate NO from me.

ANOTHER LOVELY STORY TOTALLY RUINED BY NARRATOR

Find someone who can pronounce English words correctly. Very distracting to be correcting pronunciation once or twice every paragraph

Horrible narrator

If someone with a speech disability read and I mean no offense they would be better than this idiotic Tanya. She read book 3 and an hour in I found myself just wanting to vomit. They taped this in an echoing room and her voice is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad - she pauses in bad places it makes it hard to understand. They should never EVER allow her to voice over anything ever again.

THE VOICE OVER IS SO BAD I NEVER EVEN LISTENED

writer of a good yarn is let down by dreadful narration. the voice is clear, if uncertain at times, but her ignorance of pronounciation totally upsets the flow for the listener. i keep having to work out what the mangled word is, thus missing the next bit.

good story, abysmal performance
