About this listen

Two decades after her sister's brutal attack and murder, Meg Brogan has finally found happiness...or so it appears. A bestselling true-crime writer, Meg has money, fame, and a wealthy fiancé. But when a television-show host presses her to tackle the one story everyone claims she cannot write - the story of her own family's destruction - her perfect life shatters.

Determined to finally face her past, Meg returns to her hometown of Shelter Bay. Shrouded in cold, brooding fog, the close-knit coastal town harbors dark secrets and suspicious residents. One of the few people to welcome Meg back is Blake Sutton, her high-school sweetheart and the marina's new owner. Desperate for clues, Meg digs through her family's files. As Pacific storms brew outside, her passion for Blake reignites.

But someone doesn't want Meg digging up the past. And that person will go to deadly lengths to prevent the writer from revealing a terrible truth.

Good story

This is a good story. Would have give it 4 stars except that it has way too much sex.

SO ENTERTAINING AND CAPTIVATING!!

Great story! And ok...I have to eat a few of my words in my last review of this author's "A Dark Lure". I made a remark about Tanya Eby that I'll now have to retract after listening to this book. Tanya Eby did a good job. But I can truthfully say that I think she has come a long way since I first heard her narrate a book. I think she has expanded her character voices tremendously. I won't hesitate to buy any book in the future that she narrates.

Now back to the actual story. I'm becoming a BIG fan of Loreth Anne White. I love the depth of her stories and the way she builds the background of her characters. I also like her endings. She doesn't leave you hanging and I feel good after she closes the story. I highly recommend this book.

Fooled Me Once...Fooled Me Twice

If I could insert a meme for my overall feels of this book it would be Kevin Hart's "really." I was so into this book. Great plot, great characters, and even a good mystery. But the very ending made me so mad. If I have had the actual book in my hand I would've thrown it across the room. Alas, I didn't. So I didn't finish the book. I believe at least a month went by before I finished it and again I was pissed by the end of it. I mean I'm happy everything got resolved, but the two twists at the end threw me off my groove. SMH...I love when a book tricks me, but not with this kind of emotional story. My uterus literally can't take it. So many feels. Therefore, because I'm an emotional wreck now, I gave this book a solid 4. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great read, wonderful characters, and at least two plot twists. However, I'd advise you not to read this book if you know you're going to invest in the story line. Otherwise, you'll be sad, happy, and hysterical by the end that your body won't be able to handle the mood swings.

Mystery and Romance...a deadly combo

I really enjoyed this story. The female protagonist is a strong woman who has is also hiding from truths buried in her memory. She is in love with two good men. After losing one, she proves her strength by returning to her hometown after 22 years to write the story of her sister’s murder. There she meets up with her first love. There are many twists and turns as she tries to remember what she witnessed that day, and as she interviews people from her past, she realizes that everyone has their own secrets and agendas. I think this is well worth the time to read if you enjoy mystery with a little romance on the side.

🌻What’s with the negative reviews?🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

I really don’t get the negative reviews. I seriously enjoyed the book and didn’t find any part of it boring. There were also a couple of reviews that wrote that there were too many graphic sex scenes. What? There were only two or three brief sex scenes and they were barely R rated.

I thought the characters were great, the plot was interesting and it ended with A HEA. The author’s message of, “ the truth will set you free,” is good reminder and the length of the book makes it a good value for the credit spent. What more could a fan of Romantic Suspense want?

A mystery story of intriguing action & characters

If you could sum up In the Waning Light in three words, what would they be?

Excellent descriptions bring a spellbinding story to life with complex characters and action and unexpected story lines.

What did you like best about this story?

The character development is excellent and the descriptive writing is captivating. The constant twists in the story keep one on edge with unexpected revelations and pleasantly surprising outcomes.

Have you listened to any of Tanya Eby’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. The narration is excellent... Easy to follow and realistic.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Love conquers all

Any additional comments?

This is one of the better books I have listened to in some time. I enjoy a really good action and suspenseful story with intertwining characters and romance without too much graphic sexual erotica.

Narration???

A good story, with all the right components, mystery, adventure, romance and suspense. It was just spoilt a little by the narration, such a hard job and I give kudos to all narrators, but it seemed at times a bit over the top.

Is this a thriller or a romance novel?

This is the second book by this author I have listened to on Audible. Both books were to me an odd combination of mystery thriller and romance novel, with lots of heaving breasts and other internal feelings of the main characters way over-emphasized. At times I found this very annoying. The plot of ‘In the Waning Light’ was fairly conventional for the genre. I probably won’t choose a book by this author again.
