Not what I hoped for

I enjoy the author's Sheriff Joanna Brady but with the Beaumont books, the sex and language are unwanted!! I bought this second book hoping she had it out of her system but sadly not. I wasted a credit on it and will not be buying any more Beaumont books. I'm going to try the first Ali book, hopeful it will without either like much of the Brady books.

Injustice for all

I like all J A Jance's books but my favorite series is Beaumont. I am in the process of getting all of them in my own library as I read them over when I can't find a book that interests me

Narrator inflections

Narrator’s voice often took on southern accent, particularly when mimicking a woman, but also with police officers. I realize one woman was a southern belle, but not all of them, nor were all the deputies’ and police officers.

Finally beginning to read the JPBeaumont series

I have planned on reading the JP Beaumont series for some time. I’ve finished the second book in the series and am not impressed. So far he has fallen madly in love with a woman in each book in less than 24 hours. This doesn’t pass the smell test. Plus, as much as I want to like JP Beaumont I just can’t. He does have some good qualities but he is arrogant and always grouchy and constantly snaps at others. I’m hopeful for the next few books of the series.

VERY GOOD

I just finished book 6 and I am in love with the series. I am astonished to see there are some readers that give Gene Engene a poor rating for performance. I know everybody is different, but I can't imagine anyone thinking he is a bad narrator. I think he is fantastic. Anyway, Book 2 is very good but not as good for me as the others. I prefer simpler stories with less characters (I guess I'm not too bright), and this was just a tad more complicated than the others. I am starting Book 7 today and each book seems to get better. I love the author and I love the narrator. If you are looking for fun books with exciting plots that are easy to follow, then I highly recommend this series.

GOOD, GOOD, GOOD

Author very consistent with the characters. Almost like Book one is blended right into Book two. Great story. Great detective.

Old fashioned hardcore detective procedural

I read a variety of different kinds of mysteries. This is my first JA Jance, and as this kind of police procedural goes, it was good. It shows its age some (1980s) with its simpler, more stereotypical characters. And the narrator tends to over-dramatize some of the dialogue. But it was good enough that I will listen to the next one.

Act With a Conscience

Would you consider the audio edition of Injustice for All to be better than the print version?

I think that the audio edition would be better. I've never read the print version but I think a decent narrator makes listening worthwhile. When reading a book my voice is the only voice I can hear. It's strange to actually understand just how reading and listening are different. I'd say the narrator can make or break a book. I've listened to all of Tom Clancy's novels except one because the narration was incredibly poor. I had to read that book. Listen up narrators, make books come alive.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Injustice for All?

When Ralph taught the children the Pledge of Alligence

Which character – as performed by Gene Engene – was your favorite?

Peters was my favorite. There was anger, compassion, happiness, sadness, and love. Eugene was able to emulate Peter's voice to become a person whom I would like to meet.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reaction.

Any additional comments?

I will listen to the next book in the series. This series is mild but interesting. There are twists and turns that keep me wanting to know how the book will end. There is resolution when the book ends. However, there will continue to more character development because it's a series. I keep getting to know them better.
