About this listen

This story is written through the eyes of Jacob, an eight-week old border collie. At only eight weeks old, he was taken away from his Mum to start a whole new life, but sadly he fell into the hands of a bully. Jacob’s Journal will take you through the first year of his life. There will be laughter, tears, and heartbreak along the way. Will Jacob have a happy ending?

The motto of this story is never give up on a rescue dog.

Being the besotted owner of three rescue dogs myself, this story obviously resonated strongly with me. The fact that Ms Holland is putting her money where her writing talents are and donating part of her royalties to dog rescue charities makes me want to buy copies of Inside A Dog's Mind for everyone I know. If you have even a smidgen of decency in your soul, you'll buy and listen to this book immediately. Ms Holland, thank you, from me and Patch, Polly and Little Ted

I started listening to this book along with my own three dogs, Alfie, Pixie and Gracie, with a little trepidation. My main genre is crime thrillers and I am used to reading about torture and murder etc, but if a book describes animal cruelty I am in bits. There is a warning at the beginning of the book, but I listened anyway.

The book is the story of Jacob, a border collie, who has a bad start in life, and is told in his own words. Happily, Jacob then finds a good home and learns what it is like to be loved. The book is informative and heartwarming. I loved the poem at the end. Anyone thinking of buying a dog or puppy should read/listen. I certainly got a better understanding of how a dog thinks.

This is a fairly short listen (just short of 2 1/2 hours) and the narrator does an amazing job as Jacob's voice.
