Story
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Their peace was a fragile thing, but it had endured for seven years, mostly because the people of Darassus and the king of the Naor hordes believed his doom was foretold upon the edge of the great sword hung in the hall of champions. Unruly Naor clans might raid across the border, but the king himself would never lead his people to war so long as the blade remained in the hands of his enemies. But when squire Elenai’s aging uncovers evidence that the sword in their hall is a forgery, she’s forced to flee Darassus for her life, her only ally the reckless, disillusioned Kyrkenall.

My name is Raine Benares. I'm a seeker, a finder of things lost and people missing. I've never had to do both in one day, or had this many lives at stake - including mine. The search for a missing ring leads me to the abduction of eight magically gifted children. Their souls were stolen while they slept, and unless I find those souls by sunrise, their bodies will die.

Story
The life of a giant bee is a simple one. The life of a giant bee when her queen turns the entire hive into human-like apis to fend off an attack? That’s a good deal more complicated. Getting down from a 50-foot giant rose without wings while surviving the attacks of malevolent wasps is just a start. Surviving long enough to figure out what to do with her new life proves to be something of a challenge, but at least that much is understandable. Of course, that’s when she gets sucked into the tangled web of an ambitious demon lord who’s threatening to plunge the world into a war.

The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Loved the narrative and narrator. She remembers the certain voices she used for each character and proves to have a Voice Range capable of handling main and NPC and one shot characters.

I was wrong.
for the first book I criticized the reader because the main characters were male and I wasn't used to her voice yet, then I heard her voice for the succubus and realized she's perfect. not to succubus, the reader. from her seductive succubus voice to her commanding high priestess voice and everybody in between. I will listen to more books by this reader because of her voice.

The British have invaded
Insurrection is the second book in the War of the spider queen series that I have finished. When choosing an audible version, you always run the risk of “the voice” not matching the environment. But I must say, one of the main characters, Pharaun Mizzrym is served well with a voice of a British Aristocrat. The Lolth priestesses are served well by this voice too. Rosalyn Landor does a fine job as the narrator.

As good as the companions of the hall.. better?
I was concerned about straying from the companions of the hall and the events of the overworld.. but this is just as epic. I would have been missing out on an exotic adventure if I hadn't given The War of The Spider Queen a try.
