About this listen
A fast-paced, hilarious, and ultimately hopeful novel for anyone who has ever worried they might be a terrible person—from the bestselling author of Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead.
Enid is obsessed with space. She can tell you all about black holes and their ability to spaghettify you without batting an eye in fear. Her one major phobia? Bald men. But she tries to keep that one under wraps. When she’s not listening to her favorite true crime podcasts on a loop, she’s serially dating a rotation of women from dating apps. At the same time, she’s trying to forge a new relationship with her estranged half-sisters after the death of her absent father. When she unwittingly plunges into her first serious romantic entanglement, Enid starts to believe that someone is following her.
As her paranoia spirals out of control, Enid must contend with her mounting suspicion that something is seriously wrong with her. Because at the end of the day there’s only one person she can’t outrun—herself.
Brimming with quirky humor, charm, and heart, Interesting Facts about Space effortlessly shows us the power of revealing our secret shames, the most beautifully human parts of us all.

India Allwood grew up wanting to be an actor. Armed with a stack of index cards (for research/line memorization/make-shift confetti), she goes from awkward sixteen-year-old to Broadway ingenue to TV superhero. Her new movie is a prestige picture about adoption, but its spin is the same old tired story of tragedy. India is an adoptive mom in real life though. She wants everyone to know there’s more to her family than pain and regret. So she does something you should never do—she tells a journalist the truth: it’s a bad movie.

Story
Breakfast of Champions (1973) provides frantic, scattershot satire and a collage of Vonnegut's obsessions. His recurring cast of characters and American landscape was perhaps the most controversial of his canon; it was felt by many at the time to be a disappointing successor to Slaughterhouse-Five, which had made Vonnegut's literary reputation.

Story
Hilarious, fascinating, and a roller coaster of dizzying, historical what-ifs, Napoleon's Hemorrhoids is a potpourri for serious historians and casual history buffs. In one of Phil Mason's many revelations, you'll learn that Communist jets were two minutes away from opening fire on American planes during the Cuban missile crisis, when they had to turn back as they were running out of fuel. You'll discover that before the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon's painful hemorrhoids prevented him from mounting his horse to survey the battlefield.

Slow start to a beautiful ending
This book is wonderful. The main character is such a relatable character to a neurodivergent lesbian such as myself. It was a little slow at times but the detail to the story was perfect. The ending was well worth the slowness.

Interesting Facts About Enid
3.5 stars for Interesting Facts About Space by Emily R. Austin. This is the story of Enid, deaf in one ear, a lesbian, covered in rat tattoos and obsessed with space. She works as an info tech at the Space Center and has a phobia of bald men. She, like most of us, has a complicated relationship with her mother who suffers from bouts of depression and stops wearing her lipstick. Enid is a quirky character who is most likely some form of neuro divergent but who has a best friend, Vic, who is also gay and makes fun of their sports obsessed coworker with her and brings her cake. When we enter Enid's life she is desperately trying to build a relationship with her two half sisters from her father who left Enid and her mother early on. The relationships really rung true to me in this story and I found myself rooting for Enid. Some of her eccentricities got to be a bit much but I assume that was the point. I liked the book and would recommend you read it if you are ok with character driven stories that don't have much of a plot. There was one small plot with a mystery aspect to it and I found that compelling enough to keep me reading even when Enid was irksome! There are themes of mental health, abandonment, neuro divergence, lesbianism, and mother daughter relationships. A reading friend compared it to Eleanor Oliphant and Strange Sally Diamond. I think that is very accurate, although this is not quite as heavy as either of those.

Good narration.
I almost didn’t finish reading his book. The first few chapters felt incredibly disjointed and nonsensical. Stuck with it, and the rest of the book flowed well. Started to connect on a deeper level with the main character.
