Publisher's summary

In early spring of 2059, Lieutenant Eve Dallas is called off planet to face a grueling ordeal - giving a seminar at the largest police conference of the year, to be held in a swanky resort. A resort which just happens to be owned by her husband, Roarke, of course.

Even though Eve can't quite see it that way, it's supposed to be at least partly a vacation. But work intrudes in the form of a bloody homicide, and Eve is off and running. The case is complicated by Eve's personal history with the victim - and by the killer's history with Roarke. As danger closes in and the body count rises, Eve must find a way to stop the cycle of violence and revenge, and shove the past back where it belongs.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

Quick Read, But Good

This is a fast read, but yet still interesting. Dallas comes up against a murder that she solves with an off-planet female cop and the plot is pretty good. Dialog is typically witty JD Robb style with the sense of humor that has some bite to it. Susan Erickson has managed to maintain the integrity of the voices, which is nice after having read a few where she was somewhat off. I'm not sure why the length was so short, but still it was a good read. Readers who have read several Eve Dallas novels will wonder if they have read the love scenes before. They have -- the writing of those segments is very similar to other novels in the series. But they don't take up too much of the novel. JD Robb pretty much sticks to the plot in this one.

Great Little Story!

I had a bit of sticker shock, paying full price for only a few hours, but did not regret it! The plot was simple (not many surprises), but I loved the interaction with the characters. It was enjoyable, and worth the money for fans of the series!

Fun, paranormal entertainment

I started reading the “In Death” series when I was a teenager, and I’m 44 now! I loved it then, and I love it now. I went through the whole series so far, then went back and am now reading the .5ers. While the regular series is very procedural and serious (obviously still witty), these novellas explore a lighter side to the stories. I love it. Dallas is more like a “real” person, where we get to see her more vulnerable side when confronting paranormal mysteries. And like any good urban legend, we are left with wondering whether the mystery is completely explained by logic or was it something else?

short and sweet

I find the short stories provide good background information and fill in some blank areas. Naturally the plots aren't as convoluted but sometimes quick and easy is just as enjoyable 😉.

Too short

Oh how I wish it was more.
But I could see how everything was put together.

Short but perfect

Where does Interlude in Death rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top quarter

What did you like best about this story?

All the characters that make Eve's "family" were there doing what they do best.

What does Susan Ericksen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Susan has become one of the best parts of the In Death series. I miss hear when I read the books.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! I know it was a short book but that helped me listen to it in one evening.

Any additional comments?

Don't pass on this book because of the size. You would miss a enjoyable time with old friends. If you are new to the series you will meet most of the clan.

Love these short "Interludes!"

Once again, I was able to spend a few hours with my NYPSD family. How I love these characters. This story, while less deep than the full length books, doesn't disappoint. I recommend it. And Susan Erickson is the BOMB!!
