Publisher's summary

In New Vienna, capital of the oppressive global government formed after the Flash, three things are certain: the sun is poisonous, speaking out is dangerous, and being different will get you killed.

And Lumina Bohn is extraordinarily different.

Living in terror of discovery, Lu knows nothing of her past - but she knows she must pretend to be human to survive. When an incident at work triggers her astonishing powers, she becomes the target of an international manhunt. Only one person can save her: Magnus, the enigmatic stranger haunting her dreams.

Magnus rescues the outcasts called Aberrants from capture and torture. As Lu begins exploring her powers among her people, her feelings for Magnus intensify. He’s determined to stay emotionally distant, yet their smoldering passion soon becomes impossible to resist.

But when a shocking revelation threatens the lives of every remaining Aberrant, Lu and Magnus must risk everything, confronting their enemies in an explosive final stand to save their kind from the darkest fate of all: extinction.

Great from the Beginning to the End

If you could sum up Into Darkness in three words, what would they be?

Gripping, Heart-wrenching, Unputdownable

What did you like best about this story?

I was engrossed in this story from the beginning. I loved the way it began because Lumina's character drew me in to the point that I lost sleep. Her life was so dark in comparison to her name and ability.

What about Jill Redfield’s performance did you like?

Jill added depth to this story. Every character was performed with clarity. Her skillful voice kept me captivated throughout her narration.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If it wasn't for the fact that I had to be productive the next day I would have listened to this book in one sitting. I didn't want to let it go.

Any additional comments?

Knowing that this was the last book in this series I expected things to be reconciled, but the fun was in how it was done. There wasn't a lull in this story at any time. It all built to one explosive ending. Still, there was just enough story left afterwards to feed my imagination so the characters could live on in the HEA land in my mind.

OH.. MY.. God..

Any additional comments?

What a great, great ending to a wonderful series. What an awesome love Lumina/Hope and Magnus had (and some great sex, too.)
I loved everything about this book,Magnus and Hope, Jenna and Leander, Morgan and Zander, Honor and Beckett, etc, etc..
Absolutely hated the Grand Minister and Thorne, but loved what happened to them.. LOL..Loved the last page.
I was a little concerned about Gregor but he turned out to be ok.
I'm a sorry to see this series end but it went out with a bang!

As to the narrator: She was absolutely terrific while the reading of this book. Her voices were wonderful and her emotions were phenomenal. She laughed, she cried, she whispered and she actually yelled when the book called for it. Just amazing. Awesome job!!

Great ending!

Ok, I was not expecting the twist to this series. I will be honest and say I almost stopped reading this book because I thought the twist meant certain people died. I was not going to be happy. I am glad I stuck it out. This series was really good but also frustrating for me. I hated the sadistic alphas and thought they should have been handled way sooner. I hated the multiple enemies that just never seemed to die when they should. And then this last book jumps decades into the future. I needed to adjust to that. But, I can say that it ended really well and it had a lot in the series the I did really like as well. Overall, I am glad I read it and it was a unique twist to a shifter romance series. I do think I love this authors contemporary books much more though.

This book was bittersweet for me. It is still at the high standard of the rest of the series and highly enjoyable but it's also quite sad cause it's the last in the series and I'm going to miss the Ikati! I was worried going into it wondering which of my favourite characters had made survived and which had died as well as wondering what happened to the colonies. I'm not going to say who lived or died or give away any major spoilers that would ruin the book for those still to read it!

I will say I was happy about some of the deaths and some of the survivors, although a couple of characters that had been previously mentioned (one of which I'd really liked) I didn't see in this book and I'm not sure if they survived or not cause they wouldn't have been major characters anyway. Some of the older characters didn't get much page time except to mention what happened to them and a couple got a little more page time but the main narration was by one of the twins with intermittent narration from other characters to let us know what was happening in other parts of the story.

The world in this book is a very different place and while not every little thing was tied up at the end, I was left with the feeling that things were going to get much better. That they were going to start rebuilding all that had been destroyed and that life was already changing for the better!

The book was emotional and intense with some humorous moments and I did tear up more then once but ultimately I loved the book and how it ended! I've enjoyed every step of the journey with these characters from the very first page of the very first book to the last page of this book! They've had a hard journey to get to this point but it's been worth it

Wow

This series is still fantastic and the idea for this books storyline was excellent! If this is the end of the series I am sad but great job! Narration was fantastic, as she has been in other books!

Bravo. I really enjoyed this one. JR's performance was perfect and the storyline were fantastic. I'm so looking forward to more books by JTG and in the meantime, I'll be recommending this series to my friends and family. Great job JTG.

I guess I should be happy I have my life back, but I'm just going to miss this group of characters too much.

Story was great.

Would you listen to Into Darkness again? Why?

Yes

What did you like best about this story?

All of it except the part where she had a love interest between cousins, Honor and Beckett. I read other reviews and no one seems to notice that. I wish the author wouldn't have written them as cousins.

Entertainment and engaging fantasy series!

Normally stories with too much angst drive me crazy but this series kept my attention throughout. I did skip through some of the mind-numbing angst but no more than 10 - 15 minutes in any of the books.

If you don't care for explicit romance and intimate scenes, then this series is not for you. Each book is a love/sci-fi story which follows a different series of principles. Each book can be read on their own although book five ends on a cliffhanger.

The only thing that drives me nuts about the current romance-laden novels is that the possessiveness of the lead males is borderline domineering. Usually overly-possessive people are very insecure and left unchecked, can lead to abusive relationships. 'Mine' seems to be considered the pinnacle of love in these books in the real world, is usually a sign to run!
