Publisher's summary

In the second book in The Evermore Chronicles by Emily R. King, Everley Donovan plunges into the roiling waves of a strange new world to hunt a wicked prince who cheated time.

Everley Donovan’s mission: retrieve the hallowed sword of Avelyn stolen by the wicked Prince Killian, who slayed her family and left her for dead. Should she fail, the seven worlds will come to an end, as could time itself. And no one treasures time more than Everley, whose lifesaving clock heart cannot beat forever. She has set sail with a rogue crew for the otherworlds, where the key to dethroning the prince lies deep within the Land Under the Wave.

But passage through these unknown seas - where horrors lurk and pirates rove - proves a treacherous gamble. The Land Under the Wave was not made for humans, particularly one with a fragile clock heart. Here, Everley’s tragic past resurfaces unsolved questions. Here, too, the prince has hidden secrets more precious than pearls, secrets that could fracture the future forevermore. Everley must take back her sword and break free from this watery world before her time runs out…or so will everyone else’s.

Shaping up to be a good series

It took awhile to get into this series. I will never understand why authors keep making their main character so unlikable. Evie has a great back story and a lot of her personality is understandable to a degree, and possibly it's a vehicle for other things in the story but I don't think it's needed.
There's a great love story, exciting adventure, and a really decent plot, but I had to get past her being such a b*tch to get to it.
One thing I found really weird is that it's fantasy with fantasy characters and settings but there is a a scene in one setting (I won't spoil it for you) but it almost ruined the whole story. I don't know why but I found it more absurd than the thought of 7 worlds that work together but seperate.
Still its good enough to move on to the 3rd book.
Lauren Ezzo does a great job telling the story with tons of emotion and good voices

Engrossing

This captured my attention from beginning to end. The reading of this book was astounding. I was sad when it ended but cannot wait to start the next book in the series.

The constant sudden changes in volume a d pitch of voice is distracting. It is difficult to focus on the storyline, when I have to constantly turn up and down my speaker volume!

Amazing Adventure!

Into The Hourglass by Emily R. King is the second installment in the Evermore Chronicles.
I just loved reading this story and was swept away on a magical journey!! The world and characters are so richly written. This story picks up where the 1st one left off and explains more detail and expands the world more. Such a magical world with a little bit of everything including mermaids, magic swords, giants, elves and so much more. I really enjoyed this journey and am looking forward to next one!!

Stealing Time!

This book speaks to clarifying the legends of the seven worlds. Apparently because humans have such short lifetimes and even shorter memories, the legends have been rewritten without the humans noticing. As Everly progresses through this story she learns more and more about the true creation story. She also hears a new version of the legend of Princess Amadara.
Everly also learns quite a bit about her own past. She even learns just how powerful the heart of an Everwood tree truly is considering she has one in place of her original heart.
This book is amazing. As a serial, the ending points towards the next book, but it also wraps up a few storylines that run parallel to the maIn tale.
I recommend this book.

Good story, not great narrator

This is the second book in the series and it continues to entertain and keep me interested in what comes next. The author does a great job with her descriptions of the different places the protagonists go in their tale. My only complaint is the narrator on the audiobook. I usually read books, but I was going on a long road trip and I figured that I would listen while I drive. Bad idea, the entire time I was tempted to shut it off so I didn't have to listen to her overly dramatic reading. Honestly it was too much. I wish it was toned down a lot, it took away from the climax of the story because most of the story was being yelled. I recomend the story in the book format, audiobook listeners listen at your own risk.

Good story

Overall it is a good follow-up to Book 1. The narration was just okay - a bit too over dramatized for my liking.
