About this listen

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Born a Crime comes a timeless illustrated story inviting people of all ages to connect with one another in a world brought to life with imagination.

“But sooner or later your mother will find us,” Walter said, looking back at the house. “She always does.”

The boy’s eyes lit up again. He had an idea.

“Then this time we need to go where we’ve never gone before,” he said. “Into the uncut grass!”

In the tradition of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse comes a fable about a young child’s journey into the world beyond the shadow of home, a magical landscape where he discovers the secrets of sharing, connection, and finding peace with the people we love. Infused with the author’s signature wit and imagination, it’s a tale for listeners of all ages—to be read aloud or listened to alone.

The journey

I loved the book, it helps you see things through the eyes of a child.

Into the Uncut Grass

The story is beautifully written. And, it’s explained with humor and Trevor’s ability to do different voices. I love it.

I enjoyed the cute song that is mother made for him every morning!

as an adult with no kids of my own, but as an adult with nieces and nephews and friends kids that I have baby sat before. I know this is a real conflict and debate every morning, between ones self and an authority figure! and I loved how Walter played the other side of the Boys brain, and tried to use reasoning. but the boy just wanted Adventure! and it's a grown up little kid I can see both sides. and I loved how the snails decided, how to resolve a conflict or difference of opinions. or the coins! I remember once I was babysitting my niece and nephews and it was bedtime and I asked them to turn off the TV and go brush your teeth. and I was getting so frustrated that they weren't doing it. and kept saying can we stay up for 5 more minutes, and I was getting so frustrated. that they weren't listening. and later that evening I was telling and complaining about it their mom. and then she said something that didn't justify my actions or theirs, she just said remember what it was like when you were that age! and so I went to bed remembering myself at the age, and how I was the same way! because I used to think that as soon as I went to bed,, that is when the party happened! and I didn't want to miss it.

Such a warm and adorable story

I really enjoyed listening to that. Such a warm and adorable story. Felt good to be a kid again for the moment. Especially to end up realizing (now as an adult) things aren’t that bad and I can always go home again. Bravo TN! Great work! 👏🏾😊

if you call it home it is home

Beautiful and very relatable, read to your teenagers! I could have used this as a rebellious teen that I was. Trevor is a great story teller.

It was very entertaining. I hope that Trevor Noah's journey leads him to write Adult Fiction as well.
