Publisher's summary

China started the war. Can a shattered America finish it?

A disturbingly realistic vision of war several decades into the future. Invasion: China is as ambitious as it is powerful. Using advanced technologies in military science, the world's superpowers battle on land, sea, air, and space for global supremacy. This controversial tale will keep you sleepless at night as America challenges the new colossus in the East: Greater China and her Pan-Asian allies. Hard-hitting. Vast in scope. And all too possibly real.

Continually freezing weather has devastated the Earth's food supply, making US soil the most valuable in the world. A shattered, debt-ridden America suffered invasion by half the world and faced tactical nuclear weapons in her heartland. Now she wants revenge.

In the end, nuclear-tipped torpedoes, deadly laser systems and rail guns cannot replace the grunts on the battlefield. Asian snows turn red with blood as the fate of the world hangs in the balance - this is the thundering geopolitical technothriller, Invasion: China.

Good Series about WWIII but with some problems

1. Women are objectified and fetishized.
2. Black characters are mythologized as what would be described as "one of the good ones".
3. The series features plenty of descriptions of gore and threats of rape and metions rape being used as a method of torture, but no cursing. Strange what the author considers to be profane or obscene.

I suppose these are the kinds of things desired by the average reader of this particular genre.

When all is said and done it was a thrilling series about a fictional WWIII.

"Down Goes China! Down Goes China!"

What did you love best about Invasion: China?

This audiobook is loaded with solid action / combat scenes in the sea, land, air and lower Earth orbit. Once I pressed play I couldn't press stop.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Brigadier General Stan "The Professor" Higgins. His grasp of military history and battlefield leadership basically kept the U.S. armed forces from getting their collective asses handed to them by the Chinese. What put him in the top slot was a statement he made to one of his underlings when the lieutenant questioned his decision not to disengage and conserve ammunition during a bombardment of Chinese forces defending a river crossing somewhere in Northern China after there were indications of Chinese starting a "Bugout Boogy" - "No son, We'll remain here to deal death." Needless to say, the bombardment continued.

What does Mark Ashby bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Solid narration that kept the action flowing. Professional job by a quality narrator.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

My belief in the ability for our species to lower the bar of cynical ruthlessness and depraved inhumanity was confirmed through the Chinese leader's murderous machinations and the counterproductive, myopic, conniving back stabbing act of the American Militia forces.

Any additional comments?

This series ended not with a boom, but with multiple radioactive mushroom clouds. Vaughn Heppner's Invasion America series was a joy to listen to. I highly recommend this final book and the rest of the series.

By the way, my choice of headline was inspired by Howard Cosell's historic call during the Ali v. Frasier fight, but I am sure you already figured that out.....

Great conclusion to an entertaining series

What made the experience of listening to Invasion: China the most enjoyable?

Waiting to hear how things turn out.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Invasion: China?

Probably a tie between when the Chairman bought it and Director Harold bought it.

What does Mark Ashby bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

You don't notice him. That is how I like the reader to be.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not that kind of book

Any additional comments?

I thought overall this was a fantastic series. There are just a few criticisms I have. Some of the characters became a bit one dimensional while still remaining likable. Anna Chen, Paul Cavanaugh and Jake Higgins. Paul - nonstop wife missing. Anna - high level gov't official but constantly unsure of herself and the ever present description of "beautiful" but doesn't know it. Jake - how many times can this kid be put in a detention center and get out? More lives than a cat for him. I also felt the many minor Chinese characters were a bit robotic.

While I did enjoy the book, having finished the series, Invasion: New York seemed completely unnecessary. Could have jumped right from Colorado to China and not changed the story in the slightest. The only thing NY seemed to do to further the China series was introduce the Thor missiles.

Lastly, the whole Director Harold coup seemed too simplistic. Not once until the epilogue of the final book was the VP mentioned. So the POTUS has a heart attack and the VP isn't swore in? The VP doesn't pitch a fit? Congress says nothing? There is a strict line of succession and no where in that line is the DHS director.

Nice wrap up

This is the final book of the invasion series. What I enjoyed most were the use of historical moments in past events that set the stage for many of the scenes in the telling of this story.
Personally I feel one needs to read and or listen to the entire series in order, to best enjoy it.
Mark Ashby’s narration was excellent if not amazing. He really made this series great wth his outstanding performance.

An Amazing Series!

This book is the final in a series that brings the reader to their deepest fears of our potential future. I love these books! The stories were great and very possible as well as the characters. I found myself listening until the wee hours of the morning. This book is riveting and brings the reader into the situations and I found myself yelling at the characters. I highly recommend this book and this series.

Absurd and fun.

What made the experience of listening to Invasion: China the most enjoyable?

Heppner isn't too serious and they story goes all out in absurdity and entertainment.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The black Muslim submarine captain who had to get killed off...

Any additional comments?

In every book in the series there is always a dude who is in a critical situation but is more focused on a belly ache, sore back, venereal disease...

From Start to Finish it's Awsome

This whole book amazing. While at the start things were somewhat slow. It quickly picked to the point where I was sweating. From failed Coups to split second plot twists. This book is a 10/10
