About this listen

Injected with new material, Invisible Monsters Remix fulfills Chuck Palahniuk’s original vision for his 1999 novel, turning a daring satire on beauty and the fashion industry into an even more wildly unique listening experience.

Palahniuk’s fashion-model protagonist has it all - boyfriend, career, loyal best friend - until an accident destroys her face, her ability to speak, and her self-esteem. Enter Brandy Alexander, Queen Supreme, one operation away from becoming a bona fide woman.

Laced in are new chapters of memoir and further scenes with the book’s characters. Listeners will jump between chapters, re-listen to the audiobook to understand the dissolve between fiction and fact, and embark on a ride they’ll never forget.

.....eh. does this count as fifteen more words, because I forgot how boring this book was.

Long story short it’s chucks work, if your familiar it’s inline. It’s out there twisted and a story you’ve never heard. A story that feels far from believable but certainly possible.

The chargers and tracks are funky… when it says chapter blah blah versus track it’s one off.

I read it a long time ago but here we are.

although I rated it 5 Stars, I absolutely hated this version of the book

I love this book but hate THIS audiobook

I have always loved the original and never thought it could be better. This proved me wrong!

Perfect

My daughter told me to listen to this book. She said she laughed so much reading it. Listening to it though, I found it sad and tragic. Not funny in any way. I’m not sure if we were reading/listening to the same book.

Not What I Was Expecting

this book hops around a lot which is fine but at one point it gets stuck. it kept sending me to the same four chapters over and over again in a loop. never got to hear the whole story because I wasn't sure where to go

Stuck

Reading this book reminded me of hanging out with a particular set of friends, strung out on drugs and saying/doing things for shock value. It was an interesting commentary on boredom, the need for attention, self-sabotage, and longing for love.

The remix is a better book. However on audio form jumping between chapters while say, driving or cooking is a real pain. If the narrator is going to read the prompts, why don't they follow them? At the end of the introduction when is says 'now jump to chapter 44' why do we then start at chapter one?

Great book, great author, the narrator did a good job, however editor or mixer messed up. Should have followed the story the way it was meant to be followed not just recorded straight through front to back.

Just get the original.

Sorry mom, sorry god.

Jump to another scene unfolding the same way, with the same dialogue. Jump to the same ideas presented in the same style with the same delivery. Jump to me zoning out again.

Sorry mom, sorry god.

Give me redundancy. Flash. Give me repetition. Flash. Give me redundancy again, flash.

Sorry mom, sorry god.

The story has its moments and there’s a lot of good stuff in here. Only it’s the same good stuff, just swirling around and around and around and told and retold and repeated and said again the same way as last time and the time before that and every other time it was said, and all those times before next time and the time after that and I’m praying that birds would eat my face already.

Sorry mom, sorry god.

Jump to the end already
