Publisher's summary

Rhys Powell and Derek Scott are divorcing. Mistakes have been made, lines have been crossed, and there’s no going back. Both men are exhausted and ready to move on.

But their daughter is getting married soon. In the name of not putting a damper on her wedding, Derek and Rhys agree to keep the divorce on the down-low and show up as the happy couple everyone still believes they are.

And between a roller coaster of a road trip and the love and joy surrounding the wedding...Derek and Rhys just might remember why they fell for each other in the first place.

Are they only kidding themselves? Or can a rekindled spark really light the way to forgiveness?

Heartbreakingly good

Rhys and Derek’s daughter is getting married but she doesn’t know that her dads are getting divorced. Both men agree to keep it a secret until after the wedding. Rhys doesn’t like to fly so they decide to drive across the country together. During the trip things happen that makes them both wonder if maybe there is something to save. My heart broke for both men. It was obvious from the beginning that they loved each other. There were times when I wanted to hug both of them. It’s a beautiful story about love and forgiveness. Michael Ferraiuolo is amazing as usual. He has a way of making you feel what these characters are going through.

Beautiful, One of LA's Best

I have been a intermittent reader of LA's, this is one of the best! Reese and Derek get you where it counts - as someone who has gone through separation and divorce - their inner dialogue resonates (as well as spoken dialogue). I felt things from my experience and felt raw and hurting right along with them both. Touching and visceral - without extreme embellishment. I've seen alot of reviews that say they can't take cheating - and it's a hard stop -but to me, all are not perfect - and a single infraction and not an affair - they are two different things - now if a person is always cheating it's another matter. To me, one lapse - YES THESE PEOPLE ARE INTELLIGENT and it is a dumb choice - but hindsight is 20/20.... no one is perfect - not you, not me - and sometimes people shoot themselves in the foot! It happens! I think people giving up a lifetime relationship that has been beautiful without consideration of these factors is crazy too - things happen. I'm a voracious reader - I couldn't put this down. Listen to the Audible version as well - Michael Ferraulios is Excellent - his voices and emotions really expand LA's design - Please please use him again!

All the Feels of Cheating

What a heartbreaking and uplifting love story! The feelings of the partner who was cheated on were so true to life that I needed Kleenex. The HEA was satisfying without condoning the cheating that almost broke them apart. This book is going into my comfort relisten collection.

Redemption

This was better than I thought. I was kind of iffy about listening to a book about cheating but I ended up feeling for Rhys. Not gonna lie, I thought that it wasn’t gonna work until the last hour of the book but it all works out in the end. Great read

Can one really get over cheating??

This book was jammed packed full of emotions. It was real and raw and perfect. Rhys cheated on Derek and now they are enduring the aftermath of such. While they are trying really hard to stay out of each other's way, they also do not quite know how to break the news to their friends and family and especially their daughter, so they decide to keep in under wraps a bit longer. While they are trying to keep a brave face in front of others they are dying inside. Rhys is so racked with guilt over what he did and knows there is just no way to fix what he has broken. Derek, has always said that cheating is his solid line, and he would never be able to get passed such. So, this story is about how to move forward with undying love for someone after something is so broken and if it is worth it.

This book was totally worth all the tears I shed. I loved both Rhys and Derek and always love a great redemption story, which this one had in spades. Also, with Rhys's disability and Derek's PTSD, it just made it so much more. I absolutely love this book and devoured it. Michael Ferraiuolo does an amazing job with this story, and I believe they found the perfect narrator to bring this story to life. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for the aforementioned type of story, and it is definitely a must read!!

Sweet story

This is an emotional roller-coaster kind of book fo me. I love that everything gets worked out in the end. I've never read/listened to a hurt/comfort story like this before. Rhys and Derek are perfect for each other.
I love the narrator. Michael Ferraiuolo is the best.

Lobe destroyed

My emotions were in such turmoil listening to the heartbreak and confusion of one partner while the other suffers knowing what he did was unforgivable and while trying to accept the consequences! Remarkable and touching story that I loved!

Story line has major flaw

In chapter 2 Derek goes out and cheats as his way of a punishment for Rhys and then rubs it in Rhys' face. No where in the book does Rhys talk about this. in fact I'm certain the author may even forgotten it was put in. This is something MAJOR. It doesn't matter who did what first or why. Dereks childish behavior, with the, 'he did it so can I' attitude cancels out any say in what he complains about in trust. Rhys was sincerely sorry and asked forgiveness (which doesn't neccessarily mean staying married) and treats Derek like some Angel. Derek acts like what Rhys did was so unforgivable but he went and did it and it was automatically forgiven? Um no. I waited for the entire book for Rhys to bring up anything about Derek being a jerk but nope. Derek is a saint because he still loves a man he cheated on... Michael Ferraiuolo deserves an award for his performance, if it wasn't for him I would be asking for my money back.
