About this listen

Soldiers may win wars, but assassins topple kingdoms.

War is on the horizon, and soldiers are bearing down on Vohra. Queen Joslyn means to take back the city, but her reach has far exceeded her grasp, and if she thinks I’m just going to sit back and let her dismantle everything I’ve built, she’ll be sorely disappointed.

Joslyn has no idea whom she’s picked a fight with.

But I aim to fix that.

Though getting to a queen is no easy feat, and I’m going to need to call in some favors if I hope to infiltrate her city, let alone the palace. There are favors to call in and debts to collect. A lot needs to be done before heading to Joslyn.

Good thing everyone needs a talented assassin.

Normally, these types of books slowly go downhill. However, I can't say that about this one or this series. It kept my interest from beginning to end. If I had one complaint, it would be that it was too short. There wasn't any sub plots. It was just the MC trucking through obstacles in interesting ways. Which, isn't much of a complaint in the grand scheme of things.

Surprisingly good

No spoilers but this is just the beginning for him, he has much to do. And it blew my mind once I found it out. We need book 5 out already !

we loved the humor and the voice there were times that we had to go back though and register not because we misunderstood but because we drowned out the book at times when reading for a while.

Me and my fiancée love the humor.

This entire series is fantastic. A!ruthless assassin with a code, magic, skills, and floating boxes. How could you go wrong? Seriously, this story is more than just a simple book about assassins. It’s a whole damn epic adventure lead by a man you would be terrified to cross. If you like isekai stories with a dark protagonist, this is an absolute must read.

Fabulous

The first two books in the series were great, and the third book was very good, but this book outshines them, in my humble opinion. It is very action-packed but also has quite a bit of plot thickening. And, the teaser for the future books at the end is very exciting.

As usual the characters and are developing nicely, and the world building continues to expand beautifully.

And, of course, Daniel Wisniewski’s vocal talents remain perfect for this series. I actually found this series by looking for works in the genre that he narrated.

Can’t wait for the next book!
