Publisher's summary

Astoria, Queens, is decorated within an inch of its life for the Christmas season, and Mia Carina is juggling her job at the Belle View catering hall with a case of murder....

Mia's busy with a full schedule of events at the family business - among them an over-the-top Nativity-themed first birthday party and a sweet 16 for a teen drama queen. But her personal life is even more challenging. Her estranged mother has returned - and her lifelong friend Jamie has discovered a shocking secret about his past. He's so angry that he starts hanging out with Lorenzo, who claims to be his long-lost brother - even after it becomes clear that Lorenzo's story is as fake as a plastic Christmas tree.

Then a body turns up among the elves in a Santa's-workshop lawn display, and amateur sleuth Mia has a buffet of suspects to choose from. Amid the holiday celebrations, she intends to find out who's the guilty party....

Just ok

This is an ok cozy mystery. The story was wasn't very believable and the characters are flat . I'm not sure if I will get the next book.

So cozy so much fun

I really loved this book. Mia and her family are so much drama, fun, laughter and I enjoy every minute I’m with them.

Still very enjoyable

I’ve listened to the first, second and third in this series back to back and, normally, at this point I’ve had my fill of a series but I’m really, really enjoying these books! There’s a large cast of characters, sometimes I get lost, but mostly it keeps things interesting and I’m eager for more. LOVE the recipes at the end!

LOVED THIS LATEST BOOK IN THE SERIES

Mia, Jamie, and their families experience some big surprises this go around, including, of course, a murder or two. Somewhat surprisingly, the murders may take a backseat to other events in their lives. As usual, these characters bring heart and humor to whatever they face, and FAMILY IS EVERYTHING! My only regret is that I now must wait for the next book. Keep 'em coming Maria DiRico/Ellen Byron.

tired of the dysfunctional relationships

I want to enjoy this series, but I am so tired of every man in a relationship in the series being a cheater, and every woman taking the cheater back, except the MC because her cheating husband is probably dead.

Technically, we don't know if Shane will be, but it's only a matter of time.

I listen to cozy mysteries to laugh. Instead I find myself wondering who hurt the author so much that all the men she writes are adultering meatheads.

Also, TW for infertility and cheating assholes who have affairs while their wives deal with infertility. what a pezzo di baccala. spero che muoia.

Great Addition to Fun Series

I love author Ellen Byron/Maria DiRico's sense of humor and her ability to create fun characters you're glad to see again and again. Mia has returned from Florida to help her dad run the legitimate catering hall business of a Long Island mobster whom her dad had worked for in his other businesses. As the holidays near, Mia's best friend and son of that mobster has been approached by a guy claiming to be his brother. One revelation after another, a couple of murders, some reunions, lots of explanations of who and how and when later, and you have a very satisfying Christmas themed cozy mystery. Total fun!
