About this listen

James ben Joseph wrestles with the pain of his older brother's death. He never believed Jesus was a rebel, but his brother's radical teachings drew dangerous attention from the Pharisees. Traveling to Jerusalem for Passover, James hoped to convince Jesus to abandon his reckless ideas and come home. Betrayal and conflict led to Jesus' arrest and crucifixion, and to protect his family, James turned his back on his brother. As rumors spread that Jesus has risen from the dead, James' sorrow mixes with fear of persecution. Determined to protect his family from further chaos, he sets out to uncover who is spreading these dangerous claims. As the truth unfolds, James faces a decision that could change his and his siblings? lives forever.

Step into the world of first-century Jerusalem and follow James on his journey of faith in James, Book 1 of the Servant Siblings series.

Insightful tale, talented voice actor

As the unbelieving brother of Jesus, the Passover week that led to the cross for Jesus was bewildering for James. This story describes the possible experience that the family of Jesus had during His ministry before and after His resurrection. The narrator is deft at distinguishing men’s and women’s voices and provides energy to the story.

Compelling

I’ve always wondered about the siblings of Jesus Christ. This was a believable fictional account of what might have happened.

Absolutely captivating

This was such a fabulous read! If I could have I wouldn’t have put it down for a second. The author wrote in such a way that you could visualize everything and even get a sense of being there in person. Definitely Recommend!! Cannot wait to read the rest of the series and more.
The narrator was also exceptional

A well-written fictionalized expansion of Biblical

James, my tenth read from Christian author Jenifer Jennings. A well-written fictionalized expansion of Biblical times focusing on Jesus' brother James in the days/weeks following Jesus' crucifixion. I’ll definitely be reading more by this author and look forward to her next book! Jonathan Lee Taylor's narration adds to the book's enjoyment. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Enjoyed

Very interesting fictional story of James, Jesus' brother. Enjoyed thinking of the time after Jesus was crucified and how his family had to deal with the time.
