About this listen

Their love story isn't easy.

Every night, Ledger stands on the stage of Joker's Sin, the most popular gay nightclub in Haven Hart, mixing music. Many of the people who come through the doors want his attention, but lately he's only had eyes for the red-headed bartender, Shane. When Ledger is invited to be on a panel at DJ Con, he asks for support from his friends at Joker's Sin. To his surprise, Shane shows up.

For Shane, Ledger is everything he's ever been attracted to in a person. They've danced around each other for a while, but finally getting to know the intense DJ one-on-one, he realizes there's even more to Ledger than he ever knew.

Then craziness ensues. Someone sets their sights on Ledger, determined to make him theirs, and he and Shane find themselves fighting for their lives instead of living it. Whoever is behind this will stop at nothing to get Ledger in their arms.

With people getting hurt and dying around Ledger, can he keep the one man he's just finally admitted he wants from a murderous fate, or will someone's crazed obsession end it all?

Contains mature themes.

Musical Matchmaking

Masterful mix tapes and maestro cocktails make beautiful music, but one wrong note or bad ingredient can sour the whole concoction. So these two have a chance at finding harmony or will the scratches break the record?

Love Ledger

Ledger and Shane are great together.
DJ Edge our favorite DJ is front and center in this installment. We finally get to see more about this behind the scenes guy. Ledger is such a sweet guy. I thought he would be more hardened like Ciro, but he isn't. He is such a cinnamon roll character. It was a nice surprise. You'd think he would be more outgoing seeing that he is a dj, but he isn't he is shy. He was so adorable at the convention, being all shy and nervous. It was treat to see. We also get to learn that Ledger had a semi normal childhood, so it's a wonder Atlas was able to get him to settle in a dangerous city like Haven Hart.
Shane our new favorite bartender is so sassy! I didn't expect that of him. When we first met him he was such a cautious thing. But in this book, he lets his hair down and you get to see his full personality. Watching Shane dish out barbs to people was hilarious. I loved sass and couldn't wait to hear what he would say next. His childhood, wasn't great, but it helped shape the man he turned out to be.
Now, these two had been dancing around each other for a year, so it's no surprise that when they finally got together it would be explosive. You have to give props to Toby, but helping push these two together. Seeing Ledger and Shane try to date was sweet. You can tell they didn't know how to go about it, but they were willing to try. When the stalker came into the picture it was nice to see Shane get super protective really quick. It showed that he wasn't just in for the thrills, but wanted to be with Ledger for the long haul.
I totally loved this book. It had everything you'd want. A great plot, interesting characters, sexy times and a cool talking parrot. Definitely recommend it

Another Great Listen

I fell in love with Davidson King's books a year ago, and I proceeded to binge all of her work. Every book I could get my hands on, I did, and Heart Beats is another great listen. Shane and Ledger have such wonderful chemistry, and you really root for them as all the proverbial shit hits the fan. As always, it's an exciting story with believable, loveable characters.

King's writing shines through the actors' performances. Philip Alces and John Solo really bring the characters to life with their wonderful narration.

Great book. Definitely give it a listen!
