About this listen

His younger brother will be greater than he . . . With those words, Menashe's dreams collapse. As Yosef's eldest son, his position had seemed secure. But now Efrayim—bold, charming Efrayim, who's everything Menashe is not—is taking his place. With their people. With the pharaoh. With Jendayi, the slave Menashe loves. Efrayim, meanwhile, sees his dreams confirmed. Surely it's his destiny to unite the Egyptians and Hebrews. To marry a princess and achieve splendor surpassing that of his brother. Then Menashe's dreams take a dangerous twist as he becomes obsessed with returning the Hebrews to their homeland. If he succeeds, he'll restore their heritage. If he fails . . . he could destroy them all.

Amazing ending to the trilogy

I am sad the storyline ended. The mixture of Egyptian culture and biblical timelines brought so much more understanding to a simple short story in the Bible.

Biblical content

I love the way Angela Hunt mixes scripture with historical evidence. Her research is very much appreciated.

Amazing end to a fantastic trilogy

I thought this whole series was really remarkable. The character development, the scenery, and the action is all incredibly woven into a firm storyline that is silky smooth. Even as someone who doesn’t necessarily identify as Christian, I found this a really compelling and enriching series.

Underrated Author

I've listened to at least 10 of this author's books in less than a week. Her writing style puts you on edge. If you know the Bible, you know the general outcome of situations but the story still has to on edge wanting to see how the author will generate the outcome. Her books are VERY good listens.

Very enjoyable

While this was a very enjoyable story, it was my least favorite overall of this series. The ending did a great job of wrapping all things up so that the storyline pulled together and I ended up liking the story overall. I just struggled a bit with the author’s interpretation of how the brother’s story possibly played out.

Outstanding

I love biblical history. The fact that research went into each book edifies the author. I believe that Angela Hunt is one of my favorite authors.

masterful storytelling inconsistent with Bible

Plot of this book is inconsistent with God telling Abraham in Genesis 15:13 that they would sojourn 400 years as aliens in a foreign land. An omniscient God would not have contradicted himself by telling Manasseh (great great grandson) to return to Canaan so soon.
