This book was as advertised. Some good people did some bad things to right the wrongs of the world. I rooted for them every step of the way.

You knew from the opening paragraph that this story would be different and it was. I absolutely loved how the kidnap team came together. Robin and her band of merry men, er misfits, and one old lady, were fun to get to know. My hats off to the author. The evolution from the hesitance of their first kidnapping to the (mostly) coordinated rescue of the last was a great writing. (The people that they chose to kidnap and deal with were especially nasty.) The narrator was a great choice as well!

Robin Parsons is having the worst day of her life after being fired from her secretarial job at a law firm in Peg Herring's KIDNAP.org, when she gets a frantic phone call from her neighbor, Carter. The young man who has a mental age of about ten has accidentally kidnapped a local county supervisor who scammed Carter's mother as she was dying into selling her 100 acre farm for $10,000 when it was worth a lot more money. Robin helps Carter deal with the supervisor, getting him to confess to his crimes before getting him to pay them $50,000 and letting him go.

In fear of the consequences, Robin consults a lawyer, who seems to enjoy her escapade and connects her with a man who creates a new identity for Carter, turning him into Cameron. As her fears relax, Robin begins to consider other corrupt public figures whom they might target to get to clean up their lives. As they go, they find themselves being joined by other people anxious to become vigilantes with them.

KIDNAP.org was a delight to listen to. I thoroughly enjoyed the antics of the characters, especially as the team encounters unique new people as volunteers. I enjoyed seeing Carter/ Cameron grow as a person the more he got exposed to different people. I don't want to go into further details because it would give away spoilers, but I do really appreciate the way ones who might otherwise be deemed less valuable members of society are able to come together to join their strengths in order to accomplish good things, even if their means are not moral ways to deal with things.

Megan Scharlau does a good job of bringing this book to life in its audio version. Her performance did a lot to make the book fun, and I really appreciated the way she made the book move swiftly and cleverly.

I really had a fun time listening to KIDNAP.org. It's different than the usual cozy mysteries I listen to, but despite not being a cozy, the book was a lot of fun and full of adventure. It gave me an exciting ride without being too intense for me to handle either. I give this book five stars!

This story was very enjoyable: the central characters were quirky and likable, the plot kept moving, and the narrator’s voice fit the main character and she did a good job with the other voices.

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would listen to another. This is an easy, entertaining listen that is funny and quirky.
Robin oddly finds herself helping her neighbour. He inadvertently locked the County Commissioner in the trunk of his car after confronting him concerning his deceased mother’s house. Having been fired that day from her job, she decided to help make the Commissioner admit to and pay for his wrongdoings. Not willing to hurt him she finds creative ways of persuasion. And it doesn’t stop there, there are others not being held accountable for their misdeeds, she attempts to make them pay for some their wrongs and teach them not to do it again. Some of the people they help end up hanging around and expanding their group into an odd mix of characters. As they take on new “cases” the danger increases.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Megan Schrlau ) and I would listen to another. She has a nice reading style and does the different character voices very well.

Interesting how they got themselves into and out of situations. A cute story. It had a smooth flow and was an easy read. The narrator did all the voices well, especially the main character.

It was probably because Robin had just been unfairly 'let go' from work that she reacted as she did when her neighbour, a quiet and socially inept young man whose mother had died only weeks before, called to ask for her help. Carter had discovered that Councillor Abraham had cheated his mother just before she died and had confronted him, pushing the man into the trunk of his car when the councillor became agressive. Then he'd shut the lid.
He didn't know what to do. So he'd called Robin, the nearest person to a friend that he had. Her solution was unexpected and ingenious - to blackmail Abraham's into not reporting Carter to the police but instead pay him money up front for Carter's silence. And against all expectations, the plan worked. But left a furious and powerful Councillor determined to have his revenge.

This delightful tale of ordinary (well, nearly) people taking on bullies in power is well written, ingenious and has the reader solidly routing for these amateur villains to succeed. Plenty of action, mostly non violent, makes this fun story (with it's deeper societal issues) a really good thriller. The characters are just that little bit quirky and developed enough to make them real. The narration by Megan Scharlau is excellent, vocally following all of the emotional prompts of the text and giving individual voicing to all of the protagonists - a good performance. Despite everything, this is an uplifting story.

I enjoyed listening to this book. I liked the premise of kidnapping (but not really hurting) people that had done wrong and definitely deserved it. I found the mix of characters to be interesting and likeable. I appreciated that not everything went perfectly all the time, and the characters definitely doubted themselves, like actual people would. I feel like with the number of characters added in at the end there is An opening for a second book and I would definitely check it out!
