About this listen

Six years after entering the NHL, I still can't let go of my past that haunts me every day. But everything changes when I meet a feisty sports reporter who challenges me at every turn. I should leave Kennedy alone and spare her the drama that comes with my life outside the rink. But I can't keep my hands off her. So, we make a deal. She wants an exclusive interview that could expose my secrets to the world, secrets that are not just mine.

When I'd agreed to the interview, I had every intention for it to end with her in my bed. But I didn't expect the quirky blonde who writes about hockey players and their big sticks to hit me the hardest. Contains mature themes.

Sweet

This was a sweet story but the speed was off. A bit of a slow burn in the beginning then all of a sudden it’s been 6 weeks of sex and then HEA. The End. It was a bit whiplashing. I also wish there was more hockey and more info on Kennedy’s life and how Sports Buzz was doing after the HEA.

Didn’t love the ending.

This was a fine story, I really like them together, and Kane is the sweetest. Spoiler: But I think getting pregnant and married is so over rated, I wish the ending was different. Like as soon as she got sick I was like of course she’s pregnant ugh. So boring. I think the next book will be fun Sydney seems funny, but I’m not looking forward to the joint wedding. This book was a decent listen, and I would recommend if you’re fine with pregnancies and the nuclear family nonsense. Debating if I want to listen to the third book or not. Narration was great~ Joe and Maxine always deliver!

Usual hockey romance.

Sweet little hockey romance. Typical story plot, but less suspicious than those books that have lots of plot twists and dramas.

Good carryover charactersnin series

Characters carryover from prior book which makes it feel like you are invested. The plot has good development with all the good feels for a romance without feeling overdone and unbelievable.

Sweet

I really liked the characters in this book and that it was relatively low angst. The characters, besides some early bumps, really supported each other which, to me, made this a feel good book. I also liked the tease into the next book.

As with the prior book, these narrators were fantastic. They really do such a good job with voice modulation and pacing.

Sweet, easy listen

This is a sweet, easy listen. The plot is predictable and the "crisis" is barely a crisis at all. The narrators do a great job

*sigh* Let down...

I haven’t even finished this because I was hoping for more depth, I thought maybe it would be better than the first. I think this was one of those instances with good intentions as the first book introduced characters for a series but fell short in feeling and heart.

SOOOOO many sex scenes....was more of a distraction than anything.

So I get there's going to be sex scenes in these romantic books, but in this book, it was excessive at best. I ended up fast forwarding through a few of them because it became cringy & annoying after awhile. Between Sydney's porn addiction/ romance sex novels & their blog about puck bunnies sexing up professional athletes, it's just like, "is this where we're at as women? Sex addicted, crude horn dogs? "Granted I get women have sex & enjoy it, thank God right, but aside from that, it could've been toned down a bit. There's only so many ways you can write a sex scene & describe a big, thick cock before it gets redundant & old.
Anyways, it got old real fast. How about we stop glossing over the emotional baggage we drag in relationships & using sex as a distraction. Get therapy & actually be a good partner. Sex should accentuate a healthy relationship not have the realtionship be built on it. Anyways, this book was a good distraction but I can't say I would've wasted a credit on it. The only reason I continued on was bc the series was free.

Also I hate hate HATED Sydney! I skipped book 3 bc I already think she's a selfish, narcissist asshole & couldn't stand losing another 6+ hours of my life to hear anything more about her. Carter & men that allow women to treat them like she does, deserve the hellish life of cuckolding & verbal, physical & mental abuse they get when they date women like this. These books are getting old, same storylines, same verbage, same sex, blah blah blah.
