Story
When a series of devastating terror attacks brought down the United States, Conor and Barb assumed they were safe in their compound. They had everything they needed. They were armed and highly trained. But then, Barb was kidnapped. The kidnappers didn’t know why Conor was known as The Mad Mick. They didn’t know the fear and respect his name invoked in the shadowy underworld of covert operations. They didn’t know that when it came to protecting his family, he was without conscience, without compassion, and without equal. But they would soon find out.

Story
Before the lights went out, Jack Warrant never considered himself a prepper. That was someone on the edge, a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday cultist who had a fatalistic view of the world. He was neither a theorist nor a cultist. He was an optimist. At least that was what he told himself when the darker thoughts creeped into his psyche as he stared at the ceiling in the middle of the night. Whenever he started down the rabbit hole, he always clawed his way back into the sunlight.

When the pandemic hit, nobody was expecting it to be as bad as it was. The economy barely survived the lockdowns, but it staggered along until civil unrest shattered people’s hope of better times to come. With it being an election year, more and more Americans were waking up to the idea that they truly were behind the curve. The hope was if they did not get sick, run out of money, or could avoid violent mobs, they would be fine.

Several years ago, an ARkStorm, a once-in-a-thousand-years flood event caused by a series of intense atmospheric rivers, flooded the Central Valley of California from Sacramento to what was once Los Angeles. The weight of the water was equivalent to the volume generated by the Mississippi River times 22. It challenged an already fragile seismic system consisting of hundreds of active faults.

This new stand-alone survival thriller thrusts the most dynamic city on Earth, New York, into darkness as North America is bludgeoned by the sun's ferocity. Scientists promised a beautiful aurora providing the city that never sleeps with magnificent hues of blue and green. For three days, New Yorkers took to the streets, parks, and rooftops to enjoy the awe-inspiring spectacle. As the power grid failed, the city of New York collapsed with remarkable speed. The thin veneer of civilization was laid bare as man fought one another for survival.

Publisher's summary
When terrorists attack several US cities, Katie is sure she will be safe in her college town. She's wrong.
It's a busy summer break from college for Katie Andrews. She's a server at the fanciest restaurant in town, has an amazing internship with a hot graphic design studio, and is enjoying life with her boyfriend, Leo. Everything comes to a crashing halt when disaster strikes.
Through careful planning, Katie's parents have created a refuge in Wyoming—a place the entire family can go if the world falls apart, where everyone is sure to be safe.
But getting home means traveling over 1000 miles in this chaotic new world, and revealing secrets she doesn't want to share. She knows she'll need to come clean when she arrives—not only with her family, but with God.
Katie’s Journey is the second installment of the bestselling Havoc in Wyoming christian futuristic series. If you like fast-paced apocalyptic scenarios, engaging characters, and believable situations, then you’ll love this series.
The Havoc in Wyoming series has been described as “cozy” apocalypse, and contains no profanity, gratuitous sex scenes, or overly detailed gruesome death scenes. However, it does contain conservative family values and references to God, prayer, scripture, and Christianity.

Great story…. Could do better with narrating
Love the stories of this author, however some of the voices on this version are monotone and distracting from the story.

Love the story line
I love the story line! The performance struggled a little bit. I can’t wait for audible to release the next book in the series.

Good story
I liked the story but did feel the difference voices were irritating. Most of the men’s voices were stilted and some other voices were just weird. Other than that the book was enjoyable.

atrocious narration!
The story is interesting. I've read the others in the series on Kindle. This is the first one I've listened to on Audible. It was almost unbearable with the cartoonish male voices. The mispronunciations were hard to listen to: it's "nu-cle-ar" NOT "nu-cue-lar"
