Lost, insecure and desperately seeking comfort, he sets his sights on unravelling the mystery of the girl with the midnight-blue eyes. With his best friend, Gibsie, by his side, Johnny embarks on his quest of exposing the secrets surrounding the girl who haunts his every waking hour. Great story yet heartbreaking with great narration. Love Gibsie. Bathroom scene with bella was hard to listen to. A future book on Darren would be good

Loved it

LOVED this series. There were definite slow spots, but it was totally worth it. I laughed out loud on a plane and people were staring. Didn’t care. I laughed HARD, and also cried. The narrator’s were amazing. Seriously - worth it.

So stinking funny!

Having Irish narrators with the accents and proper pronunciations really enhanced my experience. Def check trigger warnings for this series.

Love Johnny and Shannon’s story, I’d readily read a continuation of them after they’re done with school. Looking furward to Joeys books.

So good

This is the second book in series, and the fourth audiobook (1st & 2nd book split into two audiobooks each), and must be read/listened to in order.

I am honestly mad at myself for waiting so long to start this series because I’m now obsessed. I cannot express how much I love and adore Johnny. He may be the tough rugby captain and star, but he is so patient and caring when it comes to Shannon. When most people would have ran as far away from Shannon to escape all that is her life, Johnny runs towards her. Seeing the protective, sweet, patient, loving, and kind man he’s prove himself to be, makes me melt.

Shannon and her siblings broke my heart, but seeing how the Kavanagh’s loved them made it happy. Mrs Kavanagh aka Edel aka Dellie, is one of my favorite side characters! She doesn’t mess around and is fiercely protective of those she loves. I cannot recommend this enough, and I’m immediately jumping into 𝘚𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 6!

I’m sad Johnny & Shannon’s story is done

I have never wanted to annotate a book before now 😭 if I had the physical copy, I would’ve highlighted the whole dang thing.

I went into this series thinking it was going to be overhyped. I mean, it was on my tbr for well over a year. Now, I’m kicking myself for not reading it sooner because I love these characters so much. And I loved that it takes place in 2005, it gave me so much nostalgia. Like, why was I longing to go back in time even though I was only 8 in ‘05??? 😅😭

I thought it would be difficult to read about 17 year olds as someone who’s in their mid 20’s, but again I was wrong. I related to Shan so much and it was amazing to see her grow after Johnny came into her life. He was the best thing that could’ve happened to her and he deserves everything for the patience he had for her.

I really loved the narrators too, they made it so fun to listen to and I thought they did an excellent job of taking on these characters identities.

I feel like I could go on and on about how much I loved this book, but instead I’m just going to list some of my favorite moments.

SPOILERS

1. “And don’t you dare touch my daughter.”
“Maybe you should’ve said that to your husband”

2. Joeys girlfriend beating up Bella after she said something nasty about Joey and finding out it was her that hurt Shannon.

3. The way the kids take to Johnnys parents were everything. I could cry again just thinking about it.

4. When Marie coughed to cover the sound of the door opening so Johnny could get the kids out of the house.

5. “I have them Joey, I got them out.” 😭😭

6. “I’m your daughter’s boyfriend and I’ve been dying to meet you.”

7. Joey picking the song to play at their mom’s funeral. His whole relationship with his mom has me in tears. The way he always tried to protect her, his one phone call to her.. I think I felt the most for his character.

8. The beach scene

9. Johnny is just the best and deserves to be recognized for it. That’s all 😭😭
