About this listen

Kids, a Primer is a collection of a grandfather's musings on the way his (now grown) children are raising their children and being glad about being a grandparent rather than a new parent with young children (again). While Ungar is convinced that grandparents could do a better job raising children if they had the energy, he is grateful that he, in fact, no longer has the energy. Readers will enjoy Ungar's signature sarcastic and witty tone but will be left with a warm sense of gratitude for parents and children alike by the end.

Good listen - for an open mind & if you are between 30-40

I enjoyed listening to this even when some things may not have aligned quite the same as mine. As I mentioned having an open mind I feel is important to have, at least personally. Not too long - not too short was just right for what I needed at the time, and a fun perspective for anyone who is currently between the ages of 30-40 & has or plans to have children. 💖

Entertaining but not for kids

It is short and in several places very funny. It is observations by an old crank who lives/lived in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, Dc regarding his upbringing, his kids and grandkids. But despite the subject matter this is not something you would want to listen to with your minor children. This was well worth the $2 I spent for this 44 minute bit of entertainment.

Hysterical!

This short treatise is SO funny! I must be about the same age as the author and could identify with much of what he said. We used to play outside unsupervised. We got spanked. We had to write our own papers. When ads for things concerning genitalia, we didn’t want to explain it to our children. He has a funny and spot-on way of addressing the differing perspectives. Listen to get both!

Out of touch, male chauvinist rants.

This felt like listening to someone's creepy old uncle rant about kids and parents behavior. All the while, the audience knowing, he was out of touch with today's reality. It is apparent, he wanted to "raise peoples hackles" so congrats to him. Too bad that will likely translate to fewer future book sales for him. Doubtful, he had anything to do with the actual raising of kids.
