Publisher's summary

In this moody short story, bestselling author of The Secret Witness Victor Methos weaves a psychological legal thriller about one lawyer’s quest for a fair trial when the only suspect is his client.

Nick Collins vows to uncover the truth behind an accusation of murder, but as the trial progresses, the only truth he discovers is that his big-city client doesn’t stand a chance against small-town beliefs. If the accused is found guilty until proven innocent, the real killer could still be out there, and there won’t be any heroes left to catch them.

Victor Methos’s Kill Night is part of We Could Be Heroes, a darkly inquisitive collection of short stories that examines heroic intentions versus their real-life consequences. Read or listen to each in a single sitting.

A delicious morsel of suspense

Whenever you’re in the mood for just a novella, a little creepiness, this is it. Ryan Burke voices it so well, too. Well done, guys!

This was a brief read, but it kept me guessing. I also enjoyed the legal banter!

A short story.

A short story of murder and travel. A man is traveling to meet up with his wife who is having their baby. He picks up a stranger. This stranger has already murdered a woman and buried her. What will he do next?

Too short!

This would have been even better if it was a full story. Though for it being such a short story, a lot was put into it we understood the characters. Mostly, I wish we would’ve known more about the defendant in this case like
why was he on that road?
And who was the serial killer?

Packed with plot

For a short story, this has a bit of everything - action, courtroom drama, even romance. Very entertaining.

Kill Night

There was a lot packed into this short story.
My wife and I listened to it on a short drive out of state. It was only long enough for one half of the trip. Very enjoyable. We really like Victor Methos.

Gripping!

Part 5 of 5 in "We Could be Heroes" collection. They can be read in any order.

Arrested for murder after picking a hitchhiker? Two lawyers from Las Vegas represent a good samaritan in Bailey, Utah after local authorities arrested him. Can they get him off when DNA is everywhere inside his car?

I had read a few legal thrillers by Victor Methos but it's been a while. I remember how gripping and fast-paced they were, not quite sure why I stopped reading, but I'll have to get back to them! This little story had me sitting on the edge of my seat. So good!
