About this listen
This collection of poems was written from the day the author was sent to the emergency room through her first phase of radiation and chemotherapy treatment. Christina uses poetry to share her lived experience as a teacher, a patient, a psychologist, and a neurodivergent person. Kiss Your Brain: Diagnosis Diaries shares poems that fit under the categories of “on beautiful brains", “on resilience", and “on renewal".
Christina shares her feelings, thoughts, and experience while challenging power and privilege and learning to advocate for her own health. She uses poetry to process her ironic brain tumor diagnosis in this first collection and ultimately hopes to inspire others through her work. All funds from each purchase of this book will go toward brain tumor and brain cancer research.

Story
A few years ago, Kris Carr’s world was falling apart. Her father was dying, she had to pivot her business because of the pandemic, and she was on the verge of reaching her twenty-year milestone of living with an incurable Stage IV cancer diagnosis. While sitting in a CVS parking lot, she broke down, finally allowing herself to feel the massive stress and sadness she had been suppressing in order to seem strong for those around her, and for herself.

Story
What do you do when the unthinkable happens? Elle Wright had an admittedly easy pregnancy - her scans went well, she and her baby were healthy throughout, and in May 2016, she and her husband welcomed their son, Teddy, into the world. Just a few hours after giving birth, they woke to find a nurse holding a cold and unresponsive Teddy, who had stopped breathing during the night. The happiest day of Elle's life had turned into every parent's worst nightmare, and she had to let her beautiful baby boy go.
