About this listen

Is it possible to embrace suffering as a privilege, rather than a punishment? Beloved authors Katherine and Jay Wolf offer listeners the bold invitation to trust a known God with an unknown future, as well as practical insights into surviving anything by redefining how we think about everything.

After miraculously surviving a near-fatal brainstem stroke at age 26, as told in their memoir, Hope Heals, life for Katherine and Jay Wolf changed forever - and so did the way they viewed God, the world, and themselves in it. There was no going back to normal after such a tragedy. Yet Katherine and Jay learned that suffering is not the end, but rather the beginning of a new story. In Suffer Strong, they invite us into this new story as they share universal lessons and helpful practices that will help us to:

  • Recognize we are being equipped for an uncommon assignment, not cursed by our story.
  • Transform our unmet expectations into brave anticipations.
  • Disrupt the myth that joy can only be found in a pain-free life.
  • Rewrite the narrative of hard circumstances by turning our definitions of suffering into declarations of strength.
  • And, ultimately, thrive even in the lives we never imagined living.

The message of Suffer Strong is life-changing!

How could a book about suffering make me excited to face the trials and challenges in my life? It’s because the whole message of this book is helping us survive any hard thing by redefining how we think about everything. God has used the Wolfs’ message of the good/hard life to turn my perspective upside-down when it comes to my difficult life circumstances. No, I haven’t experienced a debilitating stroke as a young Mom or walked as the spouse of someone through that kind of suffering, but the treasures they have learned in the dark places translate into the hard parts of all of our stories. I can’t recommend this audible version highly enough. Hearing Jay and Katherine tell their stories in their own voices brings a whole new level of authenticity to this book. I don’t even know how Katherine did it. What a sacrifice to read when she still deals with double vision and all sorts of paralysis in her mouth and vocal cords. But hearing any book read by the author, especially an autobiography, brings that book to a whole new level in my opinion. You will laugh, you’ll cry, and I bet you’ll come away excited about all the good things God has for you in your suffering just like I did.

Powerful Testimony!

Loved the strength and optimism Jay and Katherine express despite the difficult path they continue to traverse! The way they lean on the promises of God minute by minute to help them navigate this path He's allowed them to walk is inspirational to all of us with health issues or who have experienced loss!

The good hard life

I had the privilege to see Catherine at a women’s conference years ago and knew her story was one I’d never forget. Over the last few months my family has gone through some very difficult things & I knew it was time to read this book. To those on the mountain Catherine’s story is inspirational but to those in the valley Catherine is a joyful & humorous guide through darkness toward The Light…Jesus. I am so grateful to have read this and for her reminder to be joyfully rebellious in the face of adversity. “Weeping may endure for the night but joy comes in the morning”

A new way to look at suffering

This book shows you how a couple suffered strong.
It was inspirational to hear Jay and Katherine, who are living such a hard life, find beauty in it, They tell their story with humor and grace.
I enjoyed hearing their voices tell their story. I feel better after reading it and inspired to take the life God has given me and change the way the way I am living it. I hope I can use my disappointments and pain and turn things around so God can use me in a positive way.

10/10 would highly recommend!!!

I deeply enjoyed listening this book! What I love the most is the extra commentary we get when listening to Katherine and Jay!

What I love the most about Katherine and Jay Wolf is that they invite us into a better story. A story that says we don’t have to suffer alone. A story that says, you are seen, you are heard, and there’s a community that wants to rally around you and give you joy, peace, comfort, resources and relationships. I laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve already saved a couple clips to the book, I’ve played back a few clips just to make sure I get the message. I also have a hardcover of this book so I can switch back between both platforms and take notes as I read or listen.

This book is easy to listen to as you fly or drive and I love even more that each page is read by the authors! Highly recommend for anyone going through anything. It is powerful to know that you are not alone in your story and God is writing an even greater story than what you can imagine :)
