About this listen

Putting justice in the bank

Life comes in stages. Even the Sisterhood has been content to let their gold shields gather a little dust while they enjoy their friends and family. But when a string of anonymous emails arrives at Pinewood, suggesting shady dealings at a local assisted-living facility, Myra Rutledge and her best friend, Annie de Silva, are more than ready to out-hustle a master con artist at his own game. They’ll need to enlist some new and untested allies in order to pull off their brilliant plan, all while Myra faces a personal challenge that will rock the Sisterhood to the core.…

Micheal is always a good read

I have read. just about all of the Sister's series that Micheals has written; as well as some of her other writings. I have never been disappointed.

Go tell that

I love the narration of these books. I liked this one, yet it's not as gritty as the ones with the entire crew.

Myra and Annie at it again

Could hardly put this one down. Myra and Annie cooking up an adventure with the Post gang and a newbie. Glad to see some added characters although I miss it being mostly women. Looking forward to Charles' tale in the next episode. Meanwhile gratuitous violence was so unnecessary and achieved nothing. They reach their goal without needing to have done the last bit. Other than that I loved this book.

HIDDEN TREASURE ON PAR W/ "IN DEATH" SERIES

NO SPOILERS
NOTE: THIS IS A SERIES REVIEW NOT INDIVIDUAL BOOK!

I started reading the Sisterhood series years ago and stopped reading because my choice of genre changed. I recently decided to pick up the book where I left off as an audible read. I have now completed the entire series to date and have to give it my highest recommendation and to put Fern Michaels/Laural Merlington on par with the J. D. Robb/ Susan Ericksen Team

I've stated before I prefer to recommend series not individual books, this series is a Hidden Treasure!. I'm surprised at how few Audible readers have yet to discovered it. I know I'm going out on a limb to compare it favorably to J. D. Robbs and Susan Erickson "In Death" Series, but I feel I have good reason. The Sisterhood is rich with characters exquisitely portrayed by Laural Merlington on par with Susan Erickson (In Death) a very hard act to follow. The story premise: Very! bad people have escaped the long arm of the law and have "gotten away" with despicable crimes. The reappearing cast of damaged undeniably interesting and unique women with male counterparts equally unique and interesting, band together to see justice is served. It is vigilantism and these women are sometimes quite graphic in the mode chosen to exact revenge, but as they say, the punishment fits the crime. The main character Myra has untold wealth and her lover/main squeeze Charles is a "retired" MI5 agent who still has close ties to the Queen of England. They use their own "Control Center" to gather a "Sisterhood" of women, women picked because each has her own horrific backstory where justice has not been served. These women in subsequent books get to enact their own "justice" towards the perpetrator of the despicable crimes that has devastated and impacted their individual life's.

It sounds pretty heavy and there is drama! but the repartee between our ladies and men are laugh out loud sometimes hilarious fun. There is an element of fantasy, humor, romance/love and mystery/thriller in every book. Fern Michael's "The Sisterhood" has a rich tapestry of characters with storylines and characters that evolve throughout the series, unique plotlines and a bond of sisterhood that is enviable.. These elements and many more, lead me to give this series my highest recommendation... "Do Not Read Sisterhood, Listen to It" Laural Merlington adds a dimension by her imbued characterization of each man and women that can not be found in the reading. The last book to date in this series "Kiss and Tell" gives the boys in this series their own segue way into Ms. Michael's new miniseries "The Brotherhood" but I urge you to start at Sisterhood Number 1 "Weekend Warrior Revenge of the Sisterhood" special note first book is a little heavier being the purpose is heavily weighted in establishing the series plotlines but each book gets a little more humorous, wait till you meet Anne...what a hoot! .

"The Sisterhood" is an absolutely 'Must Have' in your collection particularly if you love J. D. Robbs "In Death" series. As with "In Death" each book has a multi-genre and unique plot line, the main character Myra is damaged with devastating back story, untold wealth at her disposal and a unrivaled drive for "justice" (just not the legal kind) Myra's lover Charles has spy skills and a control center akin to Rork's and lastly but definitely not least a plethora of delightful and humorous characters brought to life and exquisitely portrayed by the superb talents of Laural Merlington! Sound familiar...
