Publisher's summary

"Sexy, tough, and deftly sprinkled with dark humor.” (New York Times best-selling author Larissa Ione)

The line between obsession and love has disappeared.

The world has changed. Any rules that might’ve been in place before the Scorpius bacterium ripped through civilization and decreased its population are no longer in place. Obsession and survival are the new reality. So, Marcus Knight, after a hellish time in captivity that stole most of his memory and all of his soul, has one focus, and that’s keeping Dr. Penelope Kim safe in the aftermath. She’d risked her life to save him once, and she’s all that matters. For months, he’s kept his distance, protecting her from afar, because he knows that one touch - one sigh - one kiss - from her will never be enough.

Passion is a dangerous and deadly temptation.

Penny Kim is one of the few doctors still living, and she alone holds the key to ensuring the human race continues. Several of her friends are pregnant, and the clock is ticking down on their survival. Her days are filled with experiments and hope, while her nights are consumed with visions and dreams of the hard-bodied and powerful soldier who’s made her safety his one and only mission. She should be wary of him; she should be terrified of him. Yet all she feels is an unreal craving for his touch that gets stronger every day. Life is short, and she’s unwilling to wait, unaware of the danger already hunting them both. Some risks are worth it, even in this new and dangerous world.

“Thrilling, post-apocalyptic romance at its dark, sizzling best!” (New York Times best-selling author Lara Adrian)

🌻Good series, is it over?🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

I enjoyed this book, as a matter of fact, I have enjoyed the whole series. I have struggled, a bit, with recalling details from previous books, since there was such a big gap of time, between releases.

The Hero, in this book, was another emotionally and physically scarred Man. He suffered from PTSD, as a result of his captivity and torture, at the hands of evil scientists. He also had complete memory loss about his life prior to his captivity.

The Heroine first meets the Hero during his captivity. She vowed to save him, and therefore, a special bond was formed between the two.

The way this book ended, it could both be the end of the series, or be the beginning of a new direction, of the series.

There was some sexual content that included some aspects of a D/s relationship but, the sex wasn’t overdone. There was also quite a bit of violence, however, it wasn’t overly descriptive or too frequent.

This series wasn’t a typical cookie cutter romantic series, but rather a post apocalyptic tale of a world and population that do what they must to put together some sort of future in a completely different type of existence.

Conclusion of this suspenseful pandemic saga

A great pandemic romantic suspense fantasy. The series was released over 8 years starting in 2016 and ending as the COVID-19 pandemic was waning into an endemic of variant waves. Each book had one main hero and heroine but the narrative built and revealed more about the earlier characters. Well written though of course some are better than others. This one was a nail biter and one of the best. Worth the credit or cost!

Great way to end the series!

I enjoyed this book and the series overall. This is the sixth and final book in the Scorpius Syndrome series and I was eager to see how everything would wrap up. I have been very curious about Marcus since he first appeared in the series so I was excited to finally get his story. Penelope was the perfect match for Marcus so it was easy to get behind the romance in the story. I am so glad that I finally took the time to tackle this entertaining series.

Before we met Marcus, he spent time as a prisoner enduring a series of experiments run on him. This experience not only changed his personality but also stole his memories. He is determined to keep Penelope safe and will do whatever it takes to achieve that goal. I really enjoyed watching Penny start to connect with Marcus on a deeper level. Penny is a busy woman since she is the only doctor around and she needs to find a way to help women carry a pregnancy to term as soon as possible. This story was exciting with a nice blend of romance and action.

Michael Pauley did a wonderful job with the narration of this book. I think that he was a good choice to narrate this series. The voices that he uses for both the male and female characters were very well done. I had no problem listening to this book for hours at a time and believe that his narration added to my overall enjoyment of the story.

I would definitely recommend this series to others. I really liked the end-of-the-world scenario and enjoyed getting to know all of the characters. The series really does need to be read in order since each installment builds on the events from previous books. I thought that this book brought the series to a very satisfying conclusion. I hope to read more of Rebecca Zanetti’s work very soon!

Great Finish!

This is the 6th and final book in Scorpius series and RZ saved the best for last!! Jax’s brother Marcus was held and tortured at the hands of the sadistic President. Unfortunately by the time Jax was able to rescue Marcus, he had lost all memory of his past and it seemed his humanity. Enter Doc Penny, Marcus’ obsession… Great storyline following Marcus’s journey back to his new normal post virus. His contribution and finally becoming a true team member was a perfect finish to this series.

Great narrator tepid story

Not her best work. Was looking forward to Marcus story but there were too many inconsistencies in the story. Contradictions within the character development, and errors not just grammar errors but overall science, geographic and language of origin errors. It is common knowledge, as in basic fifth grade knowledge that Brazil speak le Portuguese not Spanish. It was okay overall. I understand that some may feel people listening to romance novels have a certain intellectual disposition but I love romance novels have since I was a teen. I really don’t care what others think but if your going to write which I am sure is hard and not so easy, do some simple google searches. With our access to so much information the errors in the book are uncalled for. You can even get google or grammerly to proof read your work for you so uncalled for mistakes.
