Kept me guessing the whole time!

Narrated by the author and ready listening. Identified with the characters, couldn't wait to hear more, every book different and intriguing. I will listen again soon.

it's always intriguing. keeps you guessing. love his writing.

really nothing was unlikable. the characters are all well formed. and have great personalities. even if you don't like them. there's not anything I really dislike about these stories.....

Couldn’t get into this set

I only managed half of the first book before I decided my time could be better spent than listening to this. I found the performance poor and the voices hard to discriminate between. Often enough I needed the attribution, “John said…” to be sure of who was speaking. I found the main protagonist flat and constantly doing the wrong thing. She’s supposed to be smart but that seemed a stretch too far when put against her actions.

Sorry I chose this one!

This book is a huge disappointment as far as I am concerned. I tried to get through the first book in this trio, however, the narrator is one of the worst and his accent is really annoying. I can't get past this and understand what the book is about. Returning for one credit.

Not AWFUL but not worth it. Dull

I got about halfway through the first book and stopped. The two lead characters failed to engage me. While I might be able to accept a DCI as openly sexist and bigoted as Culverhouse, it’s hard to accept the leader of an investigative unit would be non-plussed by evidence that pointed to a perpetrator being right-handed. So I found the character of Culverhouse more of a caricature and an unappealing one.

Knight is better, but I don’t find her behavior consistent. I’m all for flawed characters, but they need to be interesting or appealing in some way. Knight is not. She’s just dull.

Also, I’m pretty sure I know the direction of the plot, so I don’t feel the need to finish the story even to find the “whodunnit” answer. All in all not worth the credit & I am returning.
