About this listen

Lady Maggie Windham has secrets, and she's been perfectly capable of keeping them...until now. When she's threatened with exposure, she turns to investigator Benjamin Hazlit to keep catastrophe at bay. But Maggie herself intrigues Benjamin more than the riddle she's set him to solve. As he uncovers more and more of her past, Maggie struggles to keep him at a distance, until they both begin to discover the truth in their hearts.

Great characters, great story! The best and most memorable moment comes when Maggie realizes she's never been as "alone" in her struggles as she assumed. I love the supportive family in this series.

Fabulous

Love this one in the series also. Loved the lead female character in this series. She fought the lead male character to the end & he just ignored most of her rejections, I loved his personality & perseverance. Interesting twists also in the storyline . A winner in my library!

Another Winner!

I have become addicted to Grace Burrowes books. They all feature compassion, empathy, Hope, love, and always focus on that side of good we expect from humanity.

Another wonderful story

James Langton is a really great narrator, especially when the story characters are mostly very strong men. Grace Burrowes is a gifted and talented author/character developer. The Wyndham series is one of my all-time favorites. The only negative is that sometimes....as in this book, the heroines whine. I detest whining. Otherwise, this book is well-worth a listen...or even multiple listens. When a book is good enought for a re-listen, it's a keeper.

Great listen even when Lady Maggie whined

Lovely

I didn't like the ending! If Maggie KNEW that she was having a baby, WHY did she want to leave Ben, and go off to Italy with her sister??!! I think sometimes authors portray their characters with stubbornness just to give them a personality! But I hate stubbornness that never changes! After ALL that Ben had done for her, she STILL didn't trust him??
I guess I've read too many romance books, but these authors are pretty dumb if they think people can't mature and change for the better!

Maggie tried to be a protector

I absolutely adored Benjamin, yet I have to say, Maggie eventually got on my nerves. She was much too stubborn and unyielding—so much so that she became tedious and even boring. Nevertheless, the story was relatively good.
I somehow missed Sophia’s story so I’ll be sure to look for it. Benjamin mentioned his sister Avis being married; I’d like to see if she has a story as well.

I adored Benjamin, but Maggie—!

I liked the character development and the interactions with the family members. I think that made the story that much richer.

Great story
