I read the reviews and thought I would give it a try. I had read one review that said you need to give it a chance since the beginning was tedious or slow. I remembered that when I found that to be true and forged ahead....it seemed as soon as I got to that certain point...the story became amazing! What an author! What a story! Havent finished it yet....one more chapter to go...but already have Book 2 in my library! The reader while not terrible was not the best either...I found the accents unauthentic and somewhat confusing...but...the story made up for it!

Robin Hood fans will recognize some concepts and characterizations borrowed from other adaptations like Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and the TV series Robin of Sherwood, but it is still a pleasant and fun retelling of the story if not wholly original. Romping through the greenwood was a welcome break from a long and cold spring!

possibly it is a differant tale of robin takes awhile to start i got it because of the length of the story but i,m finding it a hard to get through

i don,t know for sure i would tell them and they could make up there minds

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

i think so the voices change to the character as i said it is a slow story to get going

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

no i don,t think i would the kevin costner one is most likely the better version

I don't know why I haven't read this before. If, like me, you love Game of Thrones, Mists of Avalon, classics and fairy tales, you must bump this up to the top of your reading list. You won't regret it. I've downloaded and shall begin it's sequel Lady of Sherwood immediately. I don't review books lightly and don't often give them 5 stars, but, in my humble opinion, everything about this book was perfect, especially this narrator.

Very well written and read version of the old folktale, but with much deeper examination of the characters, their motivations, personalities and history both of the families involved and the politics of the time. If he or they did in fact have any historical basis (really exist), we now know why without losing the enjoyment of a great 'yarn'.

I love this version of Robin Hood! It is written in a way that makes me feel like this story could have really happened in history and not just a folk story. The narrator does a wonderful job at making each character unique without being overly exaggerated. If you like historical romance, I suggest this one!
