About this listen

When Mackenzie Lowell started at NYU for her year abroad, she knew she would need extra help with her language lessons. What she wasn't expecting was that the professor who could help her, one Julian Quinn, would be so heart stoppingly attractive. Or that she would quickly develop a crush on him during their time together. When her crush evolves into something more and it turns out she's not the only one falling in love, consequences for them both could be dire. But how can they deny each other?

The story itself is cute. I’m not a big fan of the professor-student trope, but I knew what the story was going into it, so I’m not holding it against the book that the trope wasn’t for me. I liked that the male lead was kind and considerate and the romance was realistic.

The narrator of the story makes several pretty egregious errors, including loudly belching numerous times throughout the story. The audio quality also drops randomly and at one point the narrator repeats herself.

I have no major issues with the story itself, but I definitely did with the audio performance. That being said, I believe the author is working on fixing the problem, so this review may not be relevant to future audiobook editions.

Cute story, but the narrator is not great

If I’m being honest the story keeps it pretty simple and straight to the point. It was cute. A little corny but in a tasteful way. The trope alone is already something in itself but decent.

The narrator burped like 3 times, repeated herself, and mispronounced a handful of words. Not to mention the random drop of sound quality that took me out 😭

Short and Sweet with a few Burps

I honestly enjoyed Language of Love. It's everything you'd expect from a forbidden fruit romance. There is attraction, tension, nervousness, denial, stormy emotional acceptance, and of course love.

The topic is nothing new, nevertheless the story feels fresh and flows smoothly, making you feel like you are listening to something you haven't heard before. The characters are raw and realistic and even though the story is short, there is still beautiful character development.

I have to admit I had to get used to the narrator, but as the story went on, I realized she fits the main character very well.

I would certainly recommend this story.

Sweet short romance you'll devour in one go!
