Publisher's summary

When a wild mustang is shot in Montana, renowned horse whisperer and telepath, Emma Horserider, is called in to calm the herd and find out what happened. Once on scene, she is almost killed by a bullet-spewing drone and calls her black-ops brother for backup.

Emma's help roars into her life covered in tattoos and riding a Harley. Remote viewer Bronco Winchester takes the assignment because he is ordered to, but he wonders what type of assistance his boss's sister needs. That is, until he sees Emma, a valiant warrior woman proud of her Crow heritage.

Posing as a married couple, Emma and Bronco go undercover to infiltrate and stop a hate group. Both are anxious enough without the growing attachment they feel for each other. When the lives of many are on the line, they are not sure if they will live or die - let alone, have a chance at love.

Romance with a Native American flare!

I really enjoyed this novel. The blend between Native American genres, adventure, and romance were nicely woven for the reader. Buchbinder (author) allows the reader to feel as though they are transported in Montana and Wyoming, along with the characters. The reader was good too, which makes the story in audible very enjoyable.

Paranormal, Action, Intrigue, and Romance

Legacy of Evil
The Hotel LaBelle Series, Book 2
By: Sharon Buchbinder
Narrated by: Jeffery Lynn Hutchins
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
This is an excellent second novel but you probably could listen to this without hearing the first one and not get lost. It does have spoilers in it but that would ruin the book one for you :( .
This book is about someone/ones terrorizing the big ranch Emma and her family have. Her family all has special skills, her skill is she can talk with animals, especially horses and she is has telepathy. Her brother is in black-ops and he has a special skill but he can't tell you or he would have to kill you, lol. He knows she is in trouble due to their link they have. He sends one of his agents. He looks more like a hot biker and he comes to help. It is exciting and finds out the whole family has skills and is amazed to learn about what was in book one! Read book one!! (So good!) Lots of action, adventure, intrigue, and paranormal, and a bit of romance. Great story and love these characters! Paranormal action with a side of romance!
The narrator was perfect! Wonderful at sounding like a female since there were so many of them, and keeping all the voices straight! Great job!

White supremacists, ESP, and Elvis

After Book 1 in the ‘Hotel LaBelle Series’, I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book. Let me start with the narrator, Jeffrey Hutchins. There are a number of Native American characters and Mr. Hutchins did an admirable job, not falling into stereotypes and instead imbuing each character with their own voice. I found his portrayal accurate and respectful.

As for the book…? Well, it was interesting, that’s for sure.

Lucius and Tallulah from ‘The Haunting of Hotel LaBelle’ are back, now members of the Anomaly Defense Division. Ghost hunters? Investigators of bizarre and unexplainable events? Telepaths? Remote viewers?

Okay, I’m willing to go along for the ride.

In the last book, it was revealed that Emma Bearkiller was related to Lucius Stewart. I still haven’t figured out why she was the maid in the hotel in that book whereas in this one her past as a former marine is so prominent. Not that former marines can’t be maids and not that there is anything wrong, but it was a mental step I had to make. As a former marine and horse whisperer and telepath, she has a unique set of skills. I enjoyed her as a lead character, but her ‘fake’ marriage with Bronco Winchester was part of a trope that sometimes works and sometimes misses the mark. This time, it was a little bit cringe-worthy. Also, when they finally ‘consummate’ their marriage, he ‘slid his tongue between her wet fold and trembling nub” and her “molten core”. Also, Bronco has a “throbbing erection”. This was a bit too much purple prose for me.

Once we get through the wedding farce and interesting wedding night, the book moves into a much faster pace and the plot becomes far more engaging. Also, there are new characters who help drive the action forward.

I don’t want to give too much away, but the cabal Emma and Bronco take on is formidable and eerily similar to many that exist today. I did question the health status of the leader, but it was explained to my satisfaction. The leader’s plans for world domination and how he planned to use Native Americans was reprehensible and I was offended – as I was meant to be. There are a large number of issues unique to Native Americans and several were briefly touched on. This book is not about justice or reconciliation on that front, which was fine. The focus on taking down the bad guys was good enough.

I got my satisfactory ending and hope there will be more books to come.

Pretty Good

I found this one a little hard to get into and stay into, but it was pretty good overall. I have not read or listened to the previous book in the series, but it didn't affect my understanding of the story.

Devastation caused by hatred!!

Sharon Buchbinder demonstrates with Emma and Bronco’s story how devastating hatred that is unchecked can become. Not only was innocence lost never to be recovered but familial ties shortened. There are lots of unexplainable phenomena that occur throughout the storyline but thanks to courage and persistence to do the right thing justice prevails. Jeffery Lynn Hutchins does a great job narrating but there was a few places where the audiobook repeats and he mispronounced words. Overall it was a suspenseful and addictive story that I enjoyed.

Just an okay follow-up

I was not sure what to think about this becoming a series of books. There are a lot of violent scenes dealing with animals, children and domestic situations in this book that should have some kind of warning on it.

The second book is not as cute or endearing as the second book. I was also expecting more from Emma instead we got a standard heroine who is naïve about relationships. I also didn’t see how Brandon was a good match for her other than proximity.

The author did up the consequences and intensity of this book which kind of made some of the scenes too unbelievable even for a paranormal romance. I did love Gaucho but the incorporation of Otterlegs into the story was just stupid and unnecessary. The Otterlegs side plot takes so much away from the story, and it is like the author was trying to use this as humor. It didn’t work because the main plot is so dark. The author did a great job of including Bert, Lucius and Tallulah in the story. The narrator is good, but I did find the voices starting to get a little confusing except for Lucius.
