About this listen

Lisa Scottoline, the national best-selling author of Mistaken Identity and Moment of Truth, delivers a taut and intriguing legal thriller where the line between lawyer and client vanishes and the search for justice turns into a fight to the death.

Benedetta "Bennie" Rosato may be tall, blonde, and built to last, but she's no sucker for a man in uniform. She's a maverick lawyer who prosecutes police misconduct and excessive-force cases. All of the evidence points to Bennie, and the cops she once prosecuted are now after her with a vengence.

To prove her innocence, Bennie probes deep into the murder. Just as she closes in on the killer, another murder takes place, and Bennie finds herself indicted for a double homicide, a crime that is puishable by death.

Bennie runs for her life, a fugitive armed only with her wits and her courage. She'll find the real killer. Or die trying.

decent story but left out a lot of details<br />

story was good but didn't develop well, too choppy. sort of like an abridged book of an already abridged book.

great read

Gave this great book 3*** because it's way too short. Being a fan of Lisa Scottoline I expected way more.

Narrator is awful!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The narrator is so distracting it's hard to pay attention. She switches between a Philly accent and a really bad Southern accent. But, it's not the two accents that are the problem, it's the fact that she gets them mixed up between the characters and forgets to switch back.
I like the author so the narrator ruined it for me.

What did you like best about this story?

Suspense and love the Benny character.

How could the performance have been better?

Narrator.
