About this listen

London weather is chilly - and the social scene even more so. Luckily, Bridget Forrester is just getting warmed up.

Bridget longs to meet a gentleman who doesn't mention her beautiful sister upon shaking her hand. But since being branded a shrew after a disastrous social season, Bridget knows she’s lucky to even have a man come near her. It's enough to make a lady flee the country. So Bridget heads to Venice for music lessons with the renowned Italian composer Vincenzo Carpenini, with whom she's been corresponding. But not only is Carpenini not expecting her, he doesn’t even remember her! His friend, theater owner Oliver Merrick, does, though. And one look into her tantalizing green eyes has him cursing his impulsive letter-writing, which brought her across the continent. Yet before Merrick can apologize, Carpenini has ordered her away. Little does either man know that they will soon be embroiled in a wager that will require the beautiful Miss Forrester's help - or that there’ll be far more at stake in this gamble than money.

Let it be me

Unlike the other books in the series, this book does not have a mystery. Nevertheless the plot is original and fast pacing. I enjoyed it very much. The narrator continue to impress and to bring the story to life, I highly recommend this book.

Enjoyed this series very much!

Enjoyed this series. The first and last books are my favorites. It would have been better without the sex scenes. There’s also unnecessary foul language a couple of times, thankfully not a lot. The narrator is excellent! The only irritating thing that I have noticed that has become a trend with many writers is that people do things “unconsciously” instead of subconsciously… “he unconsciously tucked her hair behind her ear.” To do something unconsciously you have to be unconscious, aka, asleep, knocked out, in a coma! When you are awake you do things subconsciously! Playing with the edge of a cuff, the curl that is loose, drawing figure eights on the skin of her shoulder…

Just wonderful!

Never have I encountered an Audible book that music was intertwined with, the music is its own character, making you feel the music and what it inspires in the soul.

Enjoyed the series

I really enjoyed the ongoing story lines and the development and growth of the characters from the previous stories.
The Italian accent by the narrator left a bit to be desired but other than that, it was fine.

A solid romance and a splendid listen

So different, not your cookie cutter, roll your eyes, story/plot. it took me awhile to finally download and so glad I did. This is a steady listen, with well rounded characters, and an atypical heroine and hero. This is not a heart pounding adventure and/or with steamy sex scenes, but a lovely story, good pacing accompanied with an excellent narrator. The book gave me a reset to the ‘average’ writing or ‘jump the shark’ plots circulating in this genre, as well as finding something other than book 4, 5.... 11, 12 of a series.

Amazing story

what can I say this story has everything. I laughed, I cried. I felt every emotion coming from the characters of this story. Pravo to the author! This is one of best written stories I have ever read/listened to. And the person reading the story was amazing. She brought out each characters personality and such an amazing voice!

A Love Story and a Romance

Some reviewers have commented that they did not finish this book because they found it too tedious. They completely missed out because the last part of the story was worth waiting for. The first parts framed and set-up what the last was built upon, very much like Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. The tale takes readers for a ride. Pieces of it, that might seem mundane or tedious, are needed for the crashing effect of the ending.

Kate Noble writes stories of love and romance. She does not write the pornography so many authors of this genre rely upon. Cheap fiction that can be devoured, tossed and forgotten, before one quickly moves to the next read, which is just like the one before it. Kate writes of love between her characters. They experience the mysterious, deep, moving, and thrilling emotions of falling in love with their one and only soul mate. She writes in a romantic style that is poetic as she describes the sights, sensations and fragrance of the world around the lovers, as it would be noticed by two people who are falling in love. The beautiful descriptions of Venice in this book allowed me to travel there to see the subtle beauty of the city, in tucked away corners, that are not in the tourist traps. She writes from her heart, for where else could anyone notice the enchantment of the wet sheen on cobblestones? She paints with words, as the greatest talents do.

The narrator is a perfect pairing. Alison, herself, disappears as she single handedly brings everything and everyone to colorful life. Her characterizations are consistent. She perfectly presents the nuances of a broad range of emotions that any of the characters are likely experiencing, as well as how they would most likely express them. She is enormously talented, and I would take a chance on anything she reads.
