About this listen

When Christine’s husband calls her during a girls’ night in with her sister and asks for a divorce, she’s devastated. And bewildered. Admittedly, her marriage was in a rut, but at least she had someone, and an idea of how her future would be. Now, in the run-up to her 40th birthday, she has to start over. With the help of loyal girlfriends and her courageous decision to move to the city, she gradually starts to find her feet on the ground again - and begins to make a new life for herself. Heartwarming, bittersweet, and deliciously witty, this novel will make you realize it’s never too late to find happiness - and that it’s not always where you thought it would be.

REFRESHINGLY HONEST

I don't review often, mostly because I'm not an english native speaker, and it's harder to express myself, but this book is different in many ways, so I'll make the effort.
I think what strike me most of this book is that is so real,no faery tale, no happy perfect endings, just real everyday life! The characters are real, with their human flaws. The speech, the actions:For example, they smoke, and the narrator doesn't say"...and he-she put the cancer stick to his-her mouth..." There is no propaganda, no self-rightousness, just everyday normal nice, good flaw people. And the ending is not predictable. So it is a good listening, maybe not a page turner, but not boring either.
The narrator is good, Nice clear voice, not whiny, does the changes of tone for the different characters so you know who is talking.
All in all quite refreshing!
So it is worth the time and credit.
