Publisher's summary

Major motion picture premiering on Netflix on July 23, starring Felicity Jones, Shailene Woodley, and Callum Turner.

From the number one New York Times best-selling author of The Giver of Stars, a sophisticated, pause-resisting double love story spanning 40 years, and an unforgettable Brief Encounter for our times.

A sophisticated, pause-resisting double love story spanning 40 years-an unforgettable Brief Encounter for our times.

It is 1960. When Jennifer Stirling wakes up in the hospital, she can remember nothing-not the tragic car accident that put her there, not her husband, not even who she is. She feels like a stranger in her own life until she stumbles upon an impassioned letter, signed simply "B", asking her to leave her husband.

Years later, in 2003, a journalist named Ellie discovers the same enigmatic letter in a forgotten file in her newspaper's archives. She becomes obsessed by the story and hopeful that it can resurrect her faltering career. Perhaps if these lovers had a happy ending she will find one to her own complicated love life, too. Ellie's search will rewrite history and help her see the truth about her own modern romance.

A spellbinding, intoxicating love story with a knockout ending, The Last Letter from Your Lover will appeal to the listeners who have made One Day and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society best sellers.

Critic reviews

"With its realistically complicated characters and emotionally complex plot, The Last Letter from Your Lover is hopelessly and hopefully romantic." (Chicago Tribune)

"Crafting a love story that feels not just compelling but true is a very difficult thing indeed - and yet, with The Last Letter from Your Lover, Jojo Moyes has done it twice. I found myself utterly transfixed by both sets of lovers in this marvelous novel. Moyes is a tremendously gifted storyteller, and I'm all admiration." (Paula McLain, New York Times best-selling author of The Paris Wife)

"A fabulous, emotional, and evocative book - perfect for anyone who loves Mad Men." (Sophie Kinsella, best-selling author of Confessions of a Shopaholic)

Jojo Moyes is always a winner

Any additional comments?

This is another great Jojo Moyes story. It starts in 1960 and finishes in 2003.
It has some wonderful twists in the story that I wasn't expecting. All in all, another lovely story and well worth a listen.

Way to long

I usually love JoJo 's books, but this one was just to long and depressing.

Complex and beautiful!

I've really come to like JoJo's writing. She masterfully explores complex issues within relationships, weaving rich love stories, not saccharine sweet, but rich and deep. Also like Susan Lyons performances. I couldn't turn it off in the end. Just finished this and want more! Will likely listen again!

Beautiful and moving book

Yes, maybe a little predictable, maybe.... but with a twist and lots of heart. How many ways with twists and turns can you write about love, you know..so I loved the story. Predictability can be beautiful with the right words. Great narrator too.

Excellent!

It was a little slow starting out, but once the story got going, it was so good. Lots of twists and turns I didn't see coming. Great story line.

Great narration

Basically a decent book, I think the author added the last chapters just to lengthen the book.

Glad I didn't give up on it

About 2/3 of the way through I tired of the story and stopped listening. A few weeks later I gave it another try and ended up really enjoying the story.
