Publisher's summary

Elizabeth George: speaker, teacher, and best-selling author of A Woman After God's Own Heart, admits to being a disorganized, goal-less woman when she was in her 20s. Over the decades, the love and patience of God and the transforming power of his Word and Spirit have taught her the life-changing principles she shares here, including how to live each day God's way, take charge of busyness and find a balanced life, be a better steward of resources, and to apply and solidify transforming new habits. This unique sourcebook will strike a chord with women hungering to live orderly lives that are a testimony to their faith.

Insightful and Good Read

I recommend reading. I didn’t take everything away because some of it seemed a little old school and I have a modern woman approach to things but it was very valuable information.

Draws you nearer to the Lord while growing you as a woman Of God!

I love how this booked pointed to the importance of our relationship with Christ right out to the gate. It motivated me to be steadfast in faithfulness to the Lord and I’m so grateful! Full of so much goodness. Thank You God for this book and the author who clearly loves you with all her heart mind and soul.

Practical

Elizabeth George does get a bit repeitive over time and this book while practical is not unique. I found that she tends to assume that you have the same sort of life she does and it is geared for married women with children. If you don't have that sort of life then this may not be the best book for you. But on the whole I enjoyed it and found it helpful.

I Wanted to Like This Book, But...

I really wanted to like this book and was undecided from other listeners' reviews. I tried it and could barely make it through the first 2 chapters. I am a Christian, a wife, and a mother of 6 kids - so I don't have a problem with her religious views or her life experience.

I'm sure this woman is nice and has a lot of wisdom to offer, however--- This book reads like it was written by a grandmother, and not a middle-aged modern grandmother with an iPhone and frequent flier miles, but a VERY OLD GRANDMOTHER, who thinks that the main way women can express their creativity to the world is by crafting and being the best at cooking.

Besides the above, there are 2 main problems with this book.

#1 - All the information is vague and general. There are no strategies, tactics, or specifics. Example: "You must be organized." Then she spends a few paragraphs telling you why it's important to BE organized. She never discusses strategies for getting or staying organized. At the middle (I returned this book half-way through), there had been no actionable information presented.

#2 - This book is written in a VERY out-of-touch way. Many of her examples are about her being a grandmother whose busy schedule consists of church and bible study almost every day of the week. I don't think most women - even Christian women - can relate to that.

Besides the fact that she begins or ends most sentences with an affectionate address to the reader, such as "dear heart," "sweet sister," "lovely heart," etc., it is just so painful to listen to. I do not recommend this book to anyone. I don't even see how it could be useful to other grandmothers.
