About this listen

From the number-one New York Times best-selling author of Presumed Innocent comes a compelling new legal mystery featuring George Mason from Personal Injuries. Originally commissioned and published by The New York Times Magazine, this edition contains additional material.

Life would seem to have gone well for George Mason. His days as a criminal defense lawyer are long behind him. At 59, he has sat as a judge on the Court of Appeals in Kindle County for nearly a decade. Yet, when a disturbing rape case is brought before him, the judge begins to question the very nature of the law and his role within it. What is troubling George Mason so deeply? Is it his wife's recent diagnosis? Or the strange and threatening emails he has started to receive? And what is it about this horrific case of sexual assault, now on trial in his courtroom, that has led him to question his fitness to judge?

In Limitations, Scott Turow, the master of the legal thriller, returns to Kindle County with a suspenseful entertainment that asks the biggest questions of all. Ingeniously, and with great economy of style, Turow probes the limitations not only of the law but of human understanding itself.

Excellent Stroy teller

Wow this is my first Scott Turow book and I have to say I love his writting, it is such a shame that I can't get his new book here in Australia as I would love to hear it.

Story line is great moves and a good pace and the narrater is fantastic.

An Interesting Listen

What made the experience of listening to Limitations the most enjoyable?

Turow is always an intelligent writer and this book is no exception. It is an introspective look at decision making that we all are faced with in daily life. Some decisions are more important than others and this story points out how past experiences can certainly influence our future thinking.

What does Stephen Lang bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Stephen Lang is simply one of the best narrators out there.

So-So for Turow

I have to add my agreement with those who say this definitely is not Turow's best (which are many!) or even close. Sorry I wasted the $.

Beginning Difficult

Hard to understand . I had to listen to the beginning several times before I could continue. I’ve loved all his other books much more. Narrator: hardly any change in his voice. By far not one of his good ones.

Good but too short

This was a good read. It seemed too short - as if there was a story just on the edge of being told but just not enough time or inspiration. I did enjoy it though as I do most of Scott Turow's writing and would recommend it for someone just finishing a hefty novel and wanting something light before moving onto another big read.

This is my fav Scott Turow book this far. Takes legal thriller to whole new level.

I like how the personal and professional struggles interacted to give the characters a much deeper level of psychological complexity than other novels in this genre! Love this work.

Turow has done better

I have either read or listened to everything written by the author -- although the story was worth listening to I don't think it was up to the standards of his other work.

Not exactly

It is not read word for word, the way it was written by Scott Turrow. It wouldn’t bother you, unless you know the book or have it in front of you.

I expected better

It isn't a bad story, just not up to what you expect from Scott Turow.

behind the scenes in the courthouse

I work for the legal system and this story is very realistic. The characters are well rounded and are portrayed with insight and feeling. This book kept my interest throughout. The ending tweaks your heart; you feel for the charcters. The main character is a judge who could be working in any jurisdiction in any state. He is kind and reflective; Turow gives you a taste for the dilemma judges face daily. If the legal system interests you, you should find this book intriguing.
